mike (East Greenwich RI): Do you think The Patriots could pull a draft day trade of Ty Law for a high 1st rounder? Thanks alot

Chris Mortensen: I've been told no, but it's one of the things I'm staying on guard for....and just because you planted this idea a little more...wouldn't it be interesting if they called the Redskins (No. 5) and offered Law and their second 1st rounder? Now, that is simply me throwing something out there with no basis, so don't say you heard Mortensen report this....

Hmmmm....that would make Springs' 10 million dollars...worthless.

I would love to see the Skins go after New Englands stock pile of picks in the first 2 rounds

Law is equal to Bailey imho - a Top 3 CB. No question any team would entertain the offer. Even with Springs on board. I don't see the Pats moving up to the 5th spot. They're depth is fine on the O-line and there are so many quality WR's out there... they might want to grab Fitzgerald and move up to the #1 overall with Law and a #1, or both 1's. The Pats have great firefpower in this draft. The Skins have a little room if Gardner's on the market - or if we can unload Trotter?

The Raiders might be interested in Law as well as the Cards. The problem is fitting him in under the cap. The Pat's don't like the salary demands of Super Stars - the prefer to coach-up mid level, role players... who doesn't?

I don't see Ty Law becoming a Redskin. He is represented by the Poston brothers. I don't think I need to say anything more about that either.

I can see him going to oakland or arizona.

:)

I don'y see it happening either...but with Ty Law as trade bait along with 4 picks in the first 2 rounds it is safe to say that New England will have a VERY good draft. I hope that Vinny and Gibbs put something like this together in the coming years (2 SuperBowls and great drafts!).

For the record, if Law is dealt...the name Charley Casserly will be involved. Houston is in major need of a CB.

You could NOT have said it any better. The Postons are idiots. I guess they believe "any press (good or bad) is good press" 'cause everything the've done this offseason, not only in Washington, has earned them spots in the papers.

The Postons thing seals it. I thought it wasn't a feasible move, given the Springs signing anyhow.

UM no, Way! we just signed Springs! Unless we traded Springs for Law even then no way! Because Law contract is so big! Plus he wants more money on top of that!

He also wants Bailey money... if we were going to spend that type of $$$ on a corner, we'dve given it to Champ.

Even more than the Postons, Law is just not Redskins material. The "me First" attitude will not cut it with Gibbs.
