Make him an assistant. He can make sure all the rookies wake up in time for camp.

We need to be blunt about our expectations, weed out any chronic offenders, and roll with the best of them.

That's funny, 'cause he was kicked out of the league for smoking po. . . Oh, I get it.

He could also help with TE ROTATIONS, help restore 'Skins pride so we can PUFF up and PUFF out our chests, and GIVE the rest of the NFL a wake up call on our way to the superBOWL

Davis can help the team ROLL UP the other receivers on par during BLOW OUT wins.

Really hard to imagine Bill putting up with Fred not making practice because he overslept! haha
Maybe he can play qb for the first 4 games??

If anyone is going to get something from Fred, it will be Bellichick. When his head is on straight, Davis is a very dangerous TE.

Nicely dovetailed.
He's always been a rather seedy character. As soon as he realizes he needs to be on time in NE he'll blow that joint. What a dope.

I think it all comes down to bad habits: you've got to nip those in the bud, and Davis clearly didn't in DC. He's going to need to be focused on detail, even high-strung, if he hopes to survive the cuttings come training camp and preseason in New England. I hate to be a buzz kill, but you just can't treat your roster spot like some cushy civil service job; someone's always trying to steal it from you.
That said, I'm sure that once the haze of his youth clears he'll realize he needs to take responsibility for himself. My advice: make it a joint effort and partner with a teammate for accountability.

I'm sure NE took a long look at his past and hashed everything out in order to avoid making a half-baked decision - something that should resonate with our ownership. Either way, there's bound to be some blow back from the fan base.
One thing's for sure - with all the time off, Fred should not be suffering from burn out. That can creep up on you if you're not careful. On the flip side, Fred has to be a bit concerned about still having it - he'll know after his first hit. Let's hope the first LB who blindsides him decides to be kind rather than just lighting him up. I'm sure Fred will be looking to run over some nickel back instead.
As an aside, if Brady sits for 4 games I expect the bowl to be packed for his debut against the Colts. The Colts defense will surely be looking for as many sacks as possible. I'd expect some screens to slow the rush. It'll be interesting to see how that shakes out.
Anyway, maybe Fred can provide a spark. If not, they can cut him or perhaps stash him on IR. He certainly should not let one good practice go to his head. He needs to stem any feelings of overconfidence and try to be as consistent as possible. This may be his last chance so this would be a terrible opportunity to go wasted. His first morning after a good practice will be no time to catch an extra Z. That's a sure way to lose his chance at this JOB.
No time to zig-zag, Fred. Just roll with it. Get fired up. Blaze a new trail. Be the bomb.
