Noticed this in the NY Daily News as I was looking for reaction to the Islanders loss to the C-A-P-S Caps! Caps! Caps! I could hear, I mean see, reactions, but I stumbled across this:

The Darrelle Revis tampering case that infuriated the Patriots came to a conclusion on Tuesday when the NFL doled out its version of justice.

A league source told the Daily News that the Jets will be fined $100,000, but will not be docked any draft picks for Woody Johnson's comments that he'd "love to have Darrelle back" at a December press conference. At least one other team will be fined for what the league deemed tampering this offseason, according to the league source.

100 K... that's a joke. This is clearly token enforcement. If the league believes there was tampering, then punish them...

It's a joke that a comment as innocuous as "love to have Darrelle back" constitutes tampering. And even more of a joke that it was the Patriots who brought the complaint before the league. The article say that the Inflate-Gate investigation is still ongoing, btw.

That's really my point. Clearly, they don't see this as legitimate tampering... So, why fine at all... It just cheapens their rules.
