Defending the latest Griffin interview.

So you guys know Im neither a Griffin Supporter or Hater, but I have been critical of his play and attitude at times.
Havent found the video yet, but Griff has been ripped about some of his comments, below is one of them.
“I play the position a little bit different and what I’ve been focused on is doing the ordinary so I can be extraordinary,” he told Larry Michael on Redskins Nation this week. “So, you know, doing the little things that make the big things work. But I look forward to having the offense tailored more to what I do well, what we do well as a team.”
Ill break it down in the way it came off when I heard the clip play.
*Plays position a little different* Hes acknowledging that his skillset is different and doesnt fit the typical pocket passer mold he has tried to force himself to be as of late.
*ordinary to be extraordinary* He means he realizes now that getting good at the basic parts of his game will make him a great qb. Not just being fast and strong and doing what he did in college.
*little things to make big things work* Him actually being humble to the fact that his technique has not been good and he wont be good if he doesnt fix that.
*tailored* Him saying he doesnt want to force himself to be something he isnt, and that he will trust in the system he is asked to play.
There were other good points of the interview too where he talked about working with Jay and kinda lead to his role in the breakdown without directly addressing it.
His play in camp and on the field will ultimately decide, but for once I like where his attitude is (humble) and he sounded sincere. Time will tell, but ill be rooting for him to prove to everyone he can do it at a high level, because we are the ones that will benefit.

we're in a huge rebuild mode here and it would be great if Robert progresses or shows that he will be a good QB because we're really getting the pieces in place on both offense and defense and are looking to the future, not just the next season
it would hurt to not have Robert be able to help this franchise but we're moving forward and need to find out who the QB of the team in 2017 and beyond is
Robert will get a chance to show that he can be a part of that future but just like everybody else that's a part of this franchise, coaches and players, if you don't measure up when you have the chance, you're gone

I didn't look at this interview but Griffin has lowered his media profile the last 6 months or so which is good. He has to do interviews the Skins want him to do but less is better so I commend him for quieting down these last few months.

Oldschool you should try to watch it. I know youre about as anti-griffin as they come, you may like seeing his humble side. It really seemed like he was over his diva attitude, Gruden got through to him, and he is going to give it a good shot this year.

I'm not going to watch it but I give him credit for staying quiet for awhile. All that really matters to me is will he be better running Gruden's offense and if not will Gruden have the authority to bench him if he isn't better?

Strong? He's not strong..........he is fragile like a china doll, glass goblet. How easily does he get injured....?

That has nothing to do with strength. From all accounts, he is a weight room maniac, so I think he is actually quite strong physically. But, I think the point is that he's not worrying so much about that side of training as he is with the details (mechanics, reading defenses, and going through progressions) of being an NFL QB.

Its actually the exact reason he gets hurt. The kid is 100% muscle, on a lean frame. he could use a little fat mixed un there to soften up some blowsn
Plus yes, my point was he realizes that training isnt just being in the weight room, he spent most of his time there the last 3 seasons. with him past that mental hurdle he can focus on technique and mastering the playbook.

^^^ he was setting team highs in the weight room!
I definitely agree that he can use a little meat instead lean muscle- he is quick enoufh that the extra padding wouldn't slow him down much- he plays qb anyhow, not wr. He NEEDS to be thicker for hisbown safety.
I too took the interview as all positives.. he has always been hard working, and hopefully hes been directed to work on the right things finally!

The Skins have so much faith in RGme (not)
Luck gets his OPTION...!!! Griff, not so much.
Colts exercise Luck's $16.155M 2016 option
Colts exercised QB Andrew Luck's fifth-year team option for 2016.
It's worth $16.155 million. In a perfect world for both sides, Luck will play under a different number in 2016 as part of a long-term extension.

I totally disagree with the thought that the HC, QB's coach or FO have a lot of faith in Robert playing QB here
get over yourself
and
who cares what Luck is making - Robert has to earn his way onto this roster or he will not be here

They still have a month to decide. Don't be so sure they won't make the move; the salary is not guaranteed unless RGIII is injured going into the 2016 season.

Just to stir the pot, im gonna predict (not based on fact, but justba hunch) that Griffin finishes the season as a top 10 qb this year, without injury.
Why?
We know he has the physical ability. We know he is intelligent. We know he has a passion for the game. We know he has the work ethic.
If he actually has been humbled. If he is bought into the system and him and Gruden are on good terms. If he is dedicated to less working out his body and more his mind. And if he can drop the arrogance and really be a team leader... he has a good chance of major progression this year.
I think after being brought down to reality by Gruden and the media, he is ready to move forward in his career.

^^^^^!!!!! You already know im on that ship mate!!
Seriously tho-
I think having an improved D almost helps our (any) qbs as much as an improved oline- another year in the system doesnt hurt either

Brittle is not the opposite of strong.

my bad - I just reacted ...
Robert will be supported and given every chance by these guys but he has to show improvement ...
he may also be lucky in that he's going to get some time - we don't need him to be great this season or next
he's just got to show that he's going to be a good NFL QB and that he's a better option at QB for this franchise in 2017

Man, I sadly have zero confidence in this. But like another poster wrote earlier, "Prove me wrong Griff!"
Seriously I hope he's able to bounce back and find some success this year.

Yeah I agree. Deadskins is totally right about the salary only being guaranteed for injury. That's a risk with any player including Andrew Luck, but seems like an especially big risk with Griffin for obvious reasons.
I just don't see how the team can look at a player they're not totally sure about at QB who has his injury history and be willing to take that risk.
If he defies all expectations in 2015, sign him to a long term contract at some point during or after the season. There's always the franchise tag.

The only thing that matters is W and L, he said and did all these things in 2012 and no one said a word…why…because he won!

Yeah I think you're right. If you're going to say a bunch of cocky **** you'd better back it up with your play on the field. You can't act like the franchise QB, entitled to start no matter what, and go out there and lose to Tampa Bay at home.
