Camp fodder. I can't remember if he was any good.

Around this time last year, it appeared that Jonathan Martin was ready for a new outlook on football.

But after a little more than a year in San Francisco, the 49ers released him Thursday.

The former second-round pick, who famously withstood a prolonged series of mental and verbal abuse from teammates like Richie Incognito and John Jerry in Miami, started nine games for Jim Harbaugh in 2014. He was acquired for a conditional pick.

Life hasn't been easy for the Stanford graduate, who temporarily walked away from the game amid an abuse scandal that rocked the Dolphins' franchise and sent two of its main culprits to other clubs.

Now, he'll look to start over once again.

I feel badly for the man, as he has had his share of struggles, but I have little confidence that he would improve the team were we to sign him.

Why feel badly for the guy? He has zero guts, a real whimp.

Other Dolphin players said they thought he was a friend of Incognito, then he rats him out? Really?

No thanks, Panthers can him!

This is absurd. Incognito is a piece of . His fault not martin's. Only thing Martin is guilty of is not buying into the herd mentality. I guess CTE and the debilitating effects of concussions are just make believe, too.

That said, no thanks.

Why all the nos?
If the gm thinks he is better then what we have- bring him in.
I have zero confidence in the majority of our current line and the "depth" for when Trent goes down. There was a game when Trent went out and I cant remember whom else.. but it was fugly. If he is bigger then our undersized weak linemen then hes a cheap upgrade. We dont have the luxury of npicking up the reincarnation of the Hogs through free agency- the draft is also shallow and not a sure thing: le'rib, Long, Mosses...

Maybe he doesn't pan out but if its on the cheap I say bring in as much comp as possible, upgrading from dismal undersized chumps doesnt mean each one will be elite.. that takes time. Adding better then better then better is .. well better then not.

Already signed with Panthers.
