Do most of the Redskin fans that watch sports news on one of the local (DC) stations agree or disagree that the current coverage of the Redskins SUX?

There are several shows during the season. It'll likely be alot more with Gibbs back.

I think the general sports coverage from local news stations suck, although I prefer Fox5. But I watch Comcast Sports Net, so no comment from me really counts.

I would say everyone is second rate except for George Michael. Though he maybe outlandish, he has the knowledge and credibility. You should also mention WJFK's recent sqabble about Frank. In this area, that's a big deal

NBC 4 and Comcast are the best I see for 'Skins news even though I can't stand George Michael's personality. But I'll take him and his lousy comb-over, or any DC News channel for that matter, over Baltimore stations (not for Redskins news, but for news in general). That's just horrible programming.

George Michael is awesome - I love that dingbat. He's been my source for Redskins coverage since I was a fetus.
Anyone remember "The Skins Dirt Band", which was a feature he used to have every week that took the most recent game, and some local band wrote a song, complete with lyrics, to describe the game that was played over the highlights? I used to love that....
I used to love Steve Buckhantz on Fox5, as well. Dave Feldman is okay, but tries too hard at times to compete with that "gotta say something clever and yell a lot" mentality that seems to permeate ESPN.
I love Herzog, but he's sort of a bumbling stooge on the tv broadcast. Great guy, though.
Everyone else truly does suck, especially the ones who obviously don't give a crap about the team, but are just covering them because they HAPPEN to be assigned to Washington (Rene Knott rings a bell).

It's hard to judge the stations' Redskins coverage when nothing's happening!
And honestly, in the grand scheme of things, the Vikings' offer to Antonio Pierce qualifies as "nothing." With the exception of Comcast, a local TV sportscast is 3-4 minutes in a 30-minute newscast and 5-7 minutes in a 60. And in that time, they have to touch on everything -- college, NBA, MLB, NHL, in addition to the Redskins.
Fans of a team will always want more news on their team and less on what they're not interested in.
Personally, I think George Michael is the living, breathing definition of FRAUD. No one has gotten so far or lasted so long with so little actual journalistic or reporting skills. He can't pronounce half the names right if he tried -- it's kinda like Joey Tribbiani trying to speak French. He's terrible and he just doesn't know it.
I'll stick with those on a sports-only outlet whose main job is reporting on the Redskins -- Bram Weinstein on WTEM and whoever the Redskins reporter is on Comcast, now that it looks like Rich Cook is no longer with them. Maybe they'll go back to Russ Thaler.

Wjfk radio is going to suck without Herzog. Larry Michael is ok I guess. George Michael is a cheeseball.

Michael is definitely a cheeseball, but that's why I like him. I enjoy him the same way I used to enjoy Howard Cosell as a kid - it was like you enjoyed despising him. In my opinion, he's a lot more entertaining than some of these robots that do the sports these days.
As for Herzog, I'll definitely miss his voice, but I think Larry Michael will be, by far, a better play by play guy. He is really good. I feel bad for Herzog, cuz he really is a great guy, but Michael will do a great job. Hopefully the chemistry will still be there....

Damn George Michael is still hanging around. He was there when I lived in the DC area 1981-1988. From reading the post here about him, I guess he hasn't changed since I was there. He still an a$$ I see.

I still laugh whenever I hear (or read) the words "A$$ Clown".
George Michael used to be a top 40 DJ back in the day. Perfect gig for him. Big cheesy voice, and a face (and hair)made for radio. Something must be said for longevity, though. I hear he's a colassal pr1ck to work for, too.

When the season is going on, FOX 5 is THE BEST with coverage of the games and weekly practices. Comcast Sports Net is second.
