Positives: Athletic build. ... Good straight-line speed. ... Instinctive defender in coverage. ... At his best in zone coverage where he can track the action and read the quarterback's eyes. ... Good burst when the ball is thrown and shows the hands and tracking ability to make the tough interception. ... Supportive against the run, Branch isn't afraid to get his jersey dirty and is a reliable open-field tackler. ... Shows burst and rare top end speed to pull away from the pack as a return specialist. ... Returned two kickoffs for touchdowns in 2007 - both for 97 yards. Negatives: Slight shoulders and small waste with little room for additional muscle mass, making the switch to safety - generally reserved for heavier players - a concern. ... Despite his good instincts and stopwatch speed, Branch lacks the flexible hips to turn and run without losing a step. ... Struggles out of breaks, making him a poor fit at the next level for a man coverage scheme.

From his combine report. Ran 4.31 40,

That seems like a non-issue to me. He broke his foot in 2014 and broke his fibula in 2013. Those aren't career ending injuries. Just enough to get you on IR that year.

He ain't coming here LOL:
He chose the Chiefs instead. The other Indian team..........LOL

Chiefs sign SS Tyvon Branch to 1-yr, $2M deal
Chiefs signed SS Tyvon Branch to a one-year, $2 million contract.
Another $2 million is available in incentives. Riddled by injuries, Branch has only been able to play in five games over the last two seasons. But when healthy, the former college corner has shown serious in-the-box talent. He's an excellent low-risk add for a Chiefs defense that desperately needs safety help with Eric Berry battling cancer and Ron Parker a free agent. Branch's incentives almost certainly hinge on his ability to sustain health, making it a no-lose deal for the Chiefs.

No Revis for us, but maybe Perrish Cox? He's a good one. Let's lock him up.

I'd be ok with this if we got him on a lowball deal. Had a good last season but has bounced in and out of the league. Had a history of legal problems, but hasn't had anything in the past 5 years.

If I were GM, I wouldn't offer him anything based solely on last year. Last season was an outlier. If they sign him, I'd hope it would be a fairly cheap deal.

What I don't like are the teams going after him: Titans, Browns, Skins.....

Without saying names of players we now have via free agency, can someone give me a letter grade on how they think we've done so far?
I'm disgruntled so I'm not wasting time researching any of these jerks who will most likely let me down because they are now Skins and that's what the Skins do to me.
So do we have an A, B, C, etc...?

Well, ProFootballFocus has given the Paea, Pot Roast and Culliver pickups a grade of C+, A and B+, respectively so, a B, B+.

Are you disgruntled because of what you think will happen to their play once they get here, because Gruden is crappy decision maker or other?

Moreso along the lines of I'm stuck being a fan of a team who CONSISTENTLY find ways of doing dumb s*** while us fans sit here and pretend it's the greatest team on Earth only because we are so loyal... but I think to answer your question it's more of what will happen when they play here, we seem to have a cloud of "You will suck" above us.

Sign this kid!. Not only is he young but he could be around for a few years and it doesnt hurt that he has been around a winning team. I wonder if SM drafted him?.

I must say I feel that finally the SKins are at least making an effort to get better, lets see how this pans out on the field.

Safety is not deep... But, an undersized, athletic linebacker, like Shaq Thompson could be converted. He is not likely to find love as an OLB, but has the athleticism and range to convert. He does have coverage skills, but, as an lb, often found himself getting swallowed up when playing in the box...

5'10" is a little on the short side for the back field isnt it??

220? Kinda sounds kike a LB build to me...

I'll remain cautious, but I REALLY like how our offseason is going. The less splash we make, the more it shows we will start to invest more in the draft.

We basically signed 3 players. I wasn't a huge fan of Paea only because he doesn't have a true place in the 3-4, I really like pot roast, and Culliver is a solid CB, but we overpaid....

Regardless, at least we are filling needs in the RIGHT positions. In the past it looked like there was little to no direction. There at least appears to be a plan in the mix...... but again, we've signed like 3 guys; there is still much more to do (and play) before anything can be considered successful or not.

Yeah I've read that about that kid. Still a rookie though? Playing a brand new position? You can't really trot him or anybody else we might draft out there first weekend in September. We need to get a guy or two in free agency.

It does seem like the team knows they're not going to get an elite safety anytime soon though. So I'm glad to see them focused so much on the d-line and pass rush. Gotta help out the secondary somehow.

Thing is, who's out there to get? I think we are looking at patching stuff together. We need to draft someone... And, I think he'll be around fairly late in the draft. He's built to play SS in the NFL. Just something to think about.
