Will we Go for SUH...?

Many teams will be interested if/when he hits the market. The Skins included.

WASHINGTON (CBSDC) – The Detroit Lions did not apply the franchise tag to Ndamukong Suh on Monday, placing the dominant defender in line to become one of the most sought after free agents in the NFL this offseason.
Suh, 28, has accrued 241 tackles and 36 sacks over fives seasons with the Lions.
The Redskins — like many teams, presumably — are reportedly interested in Suh’s services, according to Dianna Russini.

Report: Redskins interested in Ndamukong Suh
"Sources with the organization" tell NBC Washington that the Redskins are interested in free agent Ndamukong Suh.
Consider this the least-surprising development of the offseason. Owner Daniel Snyder has long thought games are won in March, not September-December. Per the Washington Post, the Redskins have about $25 million in cap space. A run at Suh isn't a pipe dream, but would limit new GM Scot McCloughan's options in his first year on the job. The Redskins are 12-15 players away from being a contender, not one.

If Brucey was still GM, without a shadow if a doubt we would make him the highest paid defensive player in the league.

With Scot M at the helm, not a snowballs chance in hell.

Im pretty sure if Danny and Brucey even attempted, SvScot would pack up his desk and walk out.

Per Scot: we want Big men with Big motors! Suh fits the bill.

He also likes to build through the draft and does not beibelieve in paying players too much. No way this happens.

If we go for Suh we have learned nothing from our past FO failures....... and it will speak VOLUMES as to whom is in charge.....

DIRTY SUH........... but we all know he can PLAY lights out...!!!

Someone said on radio/tv/internet (I forget).........that SUH is a first Ballot HOF candidate when he is done playing. Hmmmmm, premature yet to say that.

His main aim is to be the highest paid defensive player.
That on its own makes it a no for me.

Tremendous talent. I don't rule anything out with our team. No we should not break the bank but we should make an offer. 15 million a year no more. He will likely get 20 and up. Suh and Watt are on that elite level talent wise.

If we were to draft Shelton and acquire Suh. We would seriously have the top front seven in the league. I trust Scot could fill the rest of the roster with talent from the draft. Seriously it ain't gonna happen but I can dream.

Thinking about it, he'd probably be better value than Rak has been recently no matter how big his cap number is.

Here we go, making assumptions and grand expectations ON PAPER....

You have to play as a cohesive unit before anyone is "top" anything. I think we should all have learned that from our past FO failures over the years.

Even still, I wouldn't say we would have a top front 7 -- at all --- and not close to being "the top". That is ridiculous. We'd still have a hole at one DE, 1 MLB, and 1 OLB (if we don't resign Orakpo). That is an entire side. If we didn't resign BO, our front 7 would look like:
- DE Shelton
- NT Suh
- DE Hatcher
- OLB Kerrigan
- LILB Robinson
- RILB Riley
- OLB Murphy
- and basically NO depth......

That front 7 is okay --- def an improvement no question --- but NOWHERE near "the top" front 7..... A lot of ????s. Shelton is NFL-unproven, Suh is on a new team, Robinson - Riley - Murphy all average but won't make a unit "elite", Hatcher is old. Kerrigan is a stud.

Suh would make the Skins alot better, no question about it, but is it worth the risk?.

Its not a question of "risk". He's no more of a risk than any other free agent you sign. The issue with Suh is that it would cost a ton of money to sign him and preclude us from signing other guys, including our own home grown players. Nobody believes that we're just one great player away from being where we need to be, so why should we blow all of our cap space on one free agent?

amen! The Dan Snyder Skins have been burned so many times with the big splash trade or FA thing but Snyder keeps gambling big to find a single leverage point that dramatically changes things. Suh has played great for Detroit but he could be Fat Albert II in DC and there is always the change his loose cannon behavior will really go over the edge get himself into a major jackpot. They better pass.

I guess he could, but I don't really believe that Suh is likely to be Fat Albert II. Being the most expensive, sought after free agent in a given year doesn't automatically mean you'll have the same character flaws that Haynesworth did.

Totally agree with Mark's larger comment though. There is no reason for us to go after Suh this year.
