Reports are this is going to happen. I would think this is a great move. Forester hasn't been able to develop any of our OL draft picks and Callahan is considered an unbelievable OL coach. Another upgrade.

This would be an awesome signing for us. He is a very good O-line coach.

Bill Callahan decided to explore other options rather that re-sign with the Cowboys and it didn’t take long for him to find a new job.
Ed Werder of ESPN reports that Callahan has agreed to a three-year deal to join Jay Gruden’s Redskins staff. It’s a “very lucrative” deal, according to Werder.
There’s no word on Callahan’s official title, but the offensive line will likely be his chief responsibility after a career spent working in that area. Callahan also had the offensive coordinator title in Dallas, but Washington already has Sean McVay in that role. Chris Foerster, who coached the offensive line in 2014, has reportedly been given permission to interview for the same job with the Bills.
It won’t be Callahan’s first time working with a member of the Gruden family. He was the offensive line coach under Jon Gruden with the Raiders from 1998-2001 and then replaced Gruden as head coach in 2002. He took the Raiders to the Super Bowl that year, but lost to Gruden and was later accused of sabotaging the team in that game by former Raiders wideouts Jerry Rice and Tim Brown.

Good deal. I didn't think Foerester was any good at teaching.

This is a very good hire imho. Never thought Foerster was anything other than just another guy, which was what one of my friends who is a Niners fan had said about him when we hired him. Callahan has a very good track record.

Keim is now reporting that Bill was hired as offensive line coach and that he would not have play calling duties
this guy has a very good reputation for getting a lot out of his O lines

Coaching staff is coming together nicely.... picking people with recent success. Hopefully we get Vic as DC and get some new blood in the position coaches on the defensive side of the ball.

I'm liking this hire. Callahan certainly did good work with the Dallas line and his prior work was good. Would be shocked if he isn't an improvement over Foerster. This team has seriously lacked in DEVELOPING young talent.

You nailed it there, man. If Callahan can get even one of our recent draft picks into the starting lineup and playing well, I'd consider it a huge success.

Y'all realize that there are 3 first round picks on the Dallas o-line, right?
I'm not saying he isn't an improvement, but, jeeze... With that level of talent, they'd damned well better perform...

My thought exactly…You mean three PRO BOWL first round picks…and a probable HOFer in Smith. I’ll reserve my excitement for this move…Still would have like to seen Grimm given a chance to interview.

That's true, and I get your point. Its like all of these teams wanting to interview Adam Gase right now. The guy has had Peyton Manning at QB. How much of an offensive genius did he need to be??? lol.
Callahan did well with the Jets, Raiders and Eagles previously though. I always like those coaches who've shown they could be successful in other places.

The best news I've heard yet, he also knows what a professional organization is run like. This is closer to the lifepreserver to a floundering swimmer than you think. He has credibilty and will help to bring in other coaching talent.

Bill C is here primarily because he's an offensive line coach that Jay Gruden really wanted here - what he's done is not as important as what he's going to do - if he's a great O line coach for the next few years, who cares what he''s done for the last 10 years
in a few years (August of 2017 is my guess) this guy & the FO will have put together a really good offensive line
