Wow. I think if Robert plays really good Saturday and gets the start against the cowboys and continues to show improvement he'll strongly be considered a starter next year with a leache. If that doesn't happen, I don't see him being a starter or a player for the Redskins.

NBC Washington's Dianna Marie Russini reports the Redskins have informed HC Jay Gruden that he'll return to coach the team in 2015.
Russini is as plugged in as it gets when it's all things Redskins. If true, it would seem the Redskins will part ways with Robert Griffin III if we're to believe reports that Gruden can't work with RGIII. Owner Dan Snyder inked Gruden to a five-year contract when he hired him, so he's not going to eat four years of money to send Gruden on his way. It'll be interesting to see where Gruden goes at quarterback. The Redskins are currently slated to pick fifth overall in the 2015 draft.

I'm glad they are keeping him for next year. I'd like to see what he can do in year 2.

I have to admit while I was watching the 49ers/Seahawks game last weekend, I was starting to get really worried about Harbaugh. It seems like a foregone conclusion that he is leaving SF, and I could totally see Snyder making that move. "Hey look what he did with Kaepernick! He can save RGIII!" Its exactly the kind of flashy distraction Snyder likes to pull after a miserable season.

I'm hoping Haz is gone. That guy is just past his expiration date at this point. I want a no-BS, Gregg Williams type guy here.

And while I'm not optimistic about the team's ability to bring in (and listen to) a new GM, you guys have sold me on the idea that Allen should not be both the team president and the GM.

I'm torn about RGIII. I feel bad for him with how this year has played out, and I would love to see him play well v. Philly and Dallas to end the season. On the other hand, I'm worried about investing more time in him only to find out he's basically Johnny Manziel and his best years were in college or that he's that guy who is going to be injured every year.

I think one of two things about RGIII:

-Either he continues to play average to crap and fans are finally willing to move on from him after this year.
-Or he plays better in the final two weeks only to wind up getting injured again sometime next year.

The second one is actual the worse scenario IMO.

Even if he plays two good games to close out the season, he's going to need to demonstrate that he's learned the role of a pocket passer before Gruden will award him the starting job next fall. You don't win it back just because you had one or two good games; he's going to have to show improved skills in May-August to win the job.

No matter how the last two weeks shape up, I expect an open competition for the position next summer (unless we make some big move to acquire a starter at QB).

+1 - Gruden would like to have a QB that has the ability to stand in the pocket and make the plays - no matter what Griffin does here in the next 2 weeks all that is going to matter is that in May thru August, a QB is going to show Gruden that he's best suited to do that here

I don't know if Griffin can become a better pocket passer than he is but I'd bet that if his progress is not clearly evident he and Gruden will part ways - I doubt that happens until sometime early next Spring

I also think that it is the intangibles that give Griffin a decent shot at re-building the way he plays QB - he has to or he's out of here

I'm glad Gruden is coming back. It might turn out that he's not a good HC, but we'd be idiots not to give him more than one year here considering the problems at QB he inherited.

I expect an open competition as well...but wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't the case with this team.
