McCoy will start vs. Colts

So it's COLT vs. the Colts...!!!

port: Redskins to start Colt McCoy vs. Indy
ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the Redskins are planning to start Colt McCoy in Week 13 at Indianapolis.
Schefter reports Robert Griffin III remains "a significant part" of the Redskins' long-term plan, but it appears the coaching staff has decided Colt McCoy offers a better chance to be competitive at this moment. Coach Jay Gruden has not been able to run his offense with RG3 under center this season. McCoy has appeared in two games this year, completing 85.7 percent of his throws for 427 yards with a touchdown and an interception, engineering an upset of Dallas and leading the game-winning drive versus Tennessee. We suspect McCoy will close out the season as the Redskins' starter.

here's more:
ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the Redskins will announce Wednesday that Robert Griffin III has been benched for Colt McCoy.
After watching Redskins tape, NFL Films' Greg Cosell recently noted that RG3 "needs to go back to QB school." He is a mess mechanically and seems to have lost all of his confidence during an abysmal third NFL season. Per Schefter, the Skins still view Griffin as a "significant" part of their long-term plan, and hope to add better talent around him this offseason. With LT Trent Williams (knee/ankle) banged up, they'll throw McCoy to the dogs. Griffin is safe to drop in fantasy leagues of all sizes. It's fair to wonder if he will ever mesh with first-year coach Gruden. Despite Schefter's optimistic report, we suspect they won't.

Gruden is doing the right thing for the team and the fans. Hopefully McCoy can help the Skins get a win.

Makes no sense. I especially appreciate the reports that RG3 is still very much in the long term plan. Ok....then bench him short term. Let Colt make a playoff run now (

) then next year will essentially still be Robert's first year in the 'new' system. Holy crap. Hopefully for him, RG3 can go to a decent organization somewhere. Hail

No way is Griffin a part of the long term plan at this point. Hats off to Gruden for making the correct decision.

at this point ... HA! - Griffin is a lot better player than you give him credit for
I'd be very surprised if Gruden does not have a plan that includes Griffin

I guess you guys don't know what 'a significant part' really means.

It makes sense to me that if you have a quarterback who has no confidence and looks lost on the field, Gruden is making the right call. Who wants to watch dismal football the rest of the season when we at least have an average quarterback that can deliver balls to stud WR's?

No, no, no........ it's smoke and mirrors!
Robert is DONE for the Skins.....(put money on it). Jay wants to succeed and he cannot do it with rgME.
Jay will be on the market for another QB if not Colt (if he lights it up). Bob is a broken horse and Jay wants to RIDE NOW....!!!

It makes perfect sense: if the Skins still believe that Griffin is a long-term asset, then the fact that each week is hurting his development more than helping it means he shouldn't be playing. This move is the right one for both the franchise and for RGIII's future, because it gives both parties the best chance to succeed now and in the long-run — hopefully with Griffin under center for Washington, but if not, then so be it.

This.
And let's be fair. It doesn't matter much who the QB is vs. the Colts this weekend, we're not going to be favored to win that game and rightly so. I just don't think I could watch another painful week of what Robert is doing on the field. It has to be 10000000x more frustrating for his teammates.

I know what a "significant part" means in this statement.
We're at the beginning of that whole dance that has to go on between now and whenever RGIII is no longer a Redskin. And this is one of those things you have to say while you're hoping to get SOMETHING for him in a possible trade.

This is probably the end for Robert in DC, and it's a damn shame that it's happening this way. I'm still an RG3 fan, and if he moves on to another team, then I'll still root for him (unless he goes to Dallas... Oh, please don't go to Jerryville).
But no, there's no way that he remains our franchise quarterback. No franchise quarterback gets benched... TWICE.

lol. Oh my god, man. I'm really dying to know at what point you're going to come to grips with all of this! hah.
I'm actually thinking its going to take a year of RGIII playing badly for the Raiders in 2015.

By two different coaching staffs no less.
Dallas? Where you really don't want him to end up is in Philadelphia with Chip Kelly.

Actually, now that I think about it, Jerry might be the guy who gives us the best offer for Robert. Hmmm....

I think that Griffin is a part of the Redskins plans and
will be the starting QB next season - but I'm a RG3 fan
that makes more sense to me than trying to trade him and not getting much for him ...
now .. if someone were to make a stupid offer, he'd be gone and the QB circus would begin again, but I don't see that as likely
right now - none of the 3 QBs on the roster are starting caliber QBs but there's no way I'd be sure about Cousins or McCoy as starters
Griffin is not getting a shot to start here unless he shows a lot of improvement but the upside is still there
now ... if Colt McCoy were to show that he's a lot better than most knowledgeable NFL people think .... we shall see

Awesome. Just awesome.
That being said, I do think people learned from the Jason Campbell experience. It took less than 4 years for people to actually stop making excuses for RGIII's play....
I honestly wouldn't be surprised if right now SkinsJock is balled up in the corner of his bedroom hysterically crying as he clutches onto his favorite RGIII doll....

And SkinsJock --- this is only a joke and I hope you take it that way. I don't believe you take it this seriously. This post is more a joking response to your "I'll be laughing at everyone when I'm right about RGIII post".

What Robert said about other players needing to step up, most importantly oline will come to light how McCoy plays. I'm okay with it being McCoy not Cousins. I wonder who will be #2 I'd think Robert.

At this point, Mark Sanchez is a better quarterback than RG III. Watch the highlights of the Iggles this weekend and you'll see Sanchez playing the QB position at a far higher level than RG III. And that is with a banged up offensive line. That's a shame. It's about KNOWING where to go with the ball and getting it there. Robert is lost in that regard at the moment.
We all saw Robert throw with accuracy in his rookie year. We all like his mobility. He lacks in reading defenses and that is hurting all players on the team. Colt may not lead us to many wins, but he will get the ball down the field to open receivers. We need something for which to look forward. These players have only so many years in their careers. We need to give the rest of them the best chance at success. I'm good with this change.
I'm also good if RG III keeps his head down and continues to work. Andrew Luck kept his nose down and worked hard while everybody ballyhooed RG III during their rookie season. See the result of that?

Curious about the #2 too. No idea.
Indy's overall D is ranked #17 right now compared to the 49ers at #2. Indy has more sacks this season. Sounds like there is a chance that Trent Williams will be back Sunday too.
This is a HUGE opportunity for McCoy though. What really frustrated me about RGIII the past two games is that he completely failed to rise to the occasion. I want to see if McCoy can take advantage or if he's just a backup who played the game of his life in Dallas.

Enter Jerry Jones, who is probably a bigger RG3 fan than you, SJ.
I'm calling it now, he'll go to Dallas. Not soon, mind you, but I think when he leaves DC, that's where he'll end up.

I don't know what SJ's obsession is with RGIII, but I have never seen anyone apologize for a player so much in my entire life. It doesn't take a trained eye to see Griffin is turrible at this stage of his career. Maybe if he gets off of social media and onto learning the intricacies of the game, he might be a productive NFL quarterback. As of right now, that just isn't the case.

At least SJ admitted he was an RG3 fan as opposed to a Skins fan.
Have to give him credit, he's probably the only one still on the RGIII version of the Titanic.
