The Redskins have signed outside linebacker Everette Brown to fill the roster spot created when they placed Brian Orakpo on injured reserve.
Brown spent the preseason with Washington but didn’t survive final roster cuts despite having a solid preseason.
The 6-foot-1, 263-pound Brown entered the league as a second-round pick of the Carolina Panthers in 2009. He also had stints with Dallas, San Diego, Detroit and Philadelphia.
Brown played for Redskins outside linebackers coach Brian Baker while with Carolina in 2009 and 2010.
Rookie Trent Murphy (a second-round pick out of Stanford) is expected to start in place of Orakpo.
