QB Choices

Posted: Sun Sep 14, 2014 4:48 pm
by SKINS#1
I am hoping RGIII does not have a serious injury and will be ready for play sooner than later. Also, I was very impressed with Cousins today. I think we have 2 talented QBs with different skill sets. My choice for QB on any given Sunday would be dictated by game plan. If having a read option QB gives the team the best chance to win, then the choice would be RGIII but if the best option was with a pocket QB, my choice would be Cousins.

Each week I assume the offensive game plan is developed/dictated by opponents defense and how best to take advantage of their weakness. For this reason, I would hold the starting QB decision until game time.

The Redskins have 2 starting QBs and should use them both.

Watching the Griffin presser... he made that last completion AFTER dislocating his ankle... watching the replay you can see it...
His concentration was incredible! I am in awe. That's some PAINFUL stuff.

Built to win now

Ok, first off, I am only a 20 year old lifelong redskins fan. So basically ever since I was born we have sucked. I have been to a number of games in DC as well. At one point, robert griffin seemed to be my one beam of hope in burgundy and gold. I was a firm believer that what I saw in 2012 showed MVP potential and multiple trips to the playoffs in the near future. I have been more than his number one supporter. We have drafted quarterbacks high, we have tried trading picks for QBs, we have tried everything-- even McNabb needless to say.

It seems to me that our only shot will come from left-field just as Matt Damon does in Saving Private Ryan, if you will. Maybe you can see where I'm headed now. I believe kirk cousins to be way better than griffin and I believe that our organization, Washington Redskins are built to win now. I do no think the rest of our roster is In rebuild mode. I believe we are one of the better teams in the NFL if we have a QB. We have a top 7 RB, one of the best receiving cores in the league, a good pass rush, fast LBs, a skeptical but talented secondary, mainly skeptical. But we are built to win right now fellas. All we need is a QB.

Cousins? Maybe?

Im stoked for the awesome game from the whole team...
next man up across the board- I really want to see Nacho/Merriweather solidify the back end of this fierce Defence

Injuries are always awful... Robert was looking like he had his swagger back.
-The bomb to Djax was a legit catch too

Hope djax is 100% for bext weeknif not sit him. His emotions will be jacked so his body needs to be ready.
luckily Grant is a super stud rookie and Roberts is a solid #2

I'm just really glad to see a stronger defense. It was a welcomed sight and feeling of a win. It's been almost a year!

Hat's off to all the team!

That looked like our old RedSkins out there, powerful stuff. Cousins did a great job, very clean and precise. The defense had a field day, unbelievable really.
It looked like Morris got hurt bad on his first touchdown, he didn't look like himself after that and i thought he was playing with a lot of pain.
Robert looked like his old self, aggressive and confidence we haven't seen for a while. I hope it isn't as serious as are afraid it is.
We have got a very good team, we really do.

Playing the "what if" game, IF that were called correctly... Robert's injury doesn't happen. #-o

Horrendous call...

I absolutely agree about the blown call, but I don't follow the injury not happening logic. It was the second drive, and stood the same chance of happening even if we scored on the first one, kicked off, stopped Jax, and got the ball back again.

Good, and much needed win today...I wouldn't get too accustomed to seeing beatings like this on a regular basis though, Jax is pretty bad...the D has really stepped up with solid performances both weeks...special teams got a bit better this week, and if KC can play anywhere close to as good as he played today on a consistent basis, I don't know how putting RG3 back in could even be considered...I hope Robert will be okay....and JG has got to do something about all the damn penalties (the Skins had close to as many yards in penalty yards as Jax had in total offense, lol)...

Less logic and more butterfly effect. Something LIKE this was probably inevitable eventually.

I hear you grampi, but the whole team needed this game. These guys needed a punching bag to make themselves feel vicious again.

This is a much upgraded talent version of the 2012 NFC East Champions remember; these guys just need the morale to come back. This game may very well have broken that spell.

I truly feel terrible for Griff, but the TEAM seems able enough to gather around Cousins to win. That's all I care about; the TEAM being able to work with whoever is under center to pull off wins.

As of right now, Kirk's our guy, lets support him and hope the best for RG3.

Cousins is the QB until Griffin can play again

there's no doubt that we will see the best QB starting each week and until Griffin is ready to play that QB is Cousins

I agree with the previous poster the Skins are built to win now and I think they can win the division with Cousins playing. I am looking forward to next week and the opportunity to pick up a division win in Philly, how big would that be?

If you think that we had a lot of penalties, you should check out the Bears v. 49ers game. The 9ers had 16 penalties for 118 yards. 16 penalties! The 9ers were essentially the 12th man for the Bears by keeping their drives alive. It was em-BEAR-rassing!

All we need is for Cousins to manage the game. We have the talent on offense to score a lot of points and if the D keeps playing like they are, we will be in every game this year.

Gruden has already hinted about opening up the playbook, and not relying on "gimmicky" stuff anymore. I don't care that it was just Jacksonville, we needed to destroy them to build up some morale. Awesome game all around.

I absolutely LOVED all of the downfield shots we took. More in one game than I can remember as a Skins fan. And Cousins looks nearly as good delivering a deep ball as RGIII.

I think we got a preview of what Gruden was planning on doing before RGIII got hurt: make teams respect the read option and keep the 'backers in to spy. Between that and increased downfield shots, this could have been a very exciting offense to watch. (I think it could still be with Captain Kirk in charge.)

I hope we give the ball to Morris 25+ because Eagles have a fast pace offense that can tire out our D. Keep the ball out of their hands. ST looks much better this year. With Merriweather coming back we will have an even better D

Why are so many people still of the mindset that Robert is the starter no matter what? This wasn't the first time KC has outplayed RG3, and it probably won't be the last. Let's say Robert is out for 8 weeks and the team is sitting at 8-1 or 7-2. Do you still bench Cousins in favor of RG3? At some point those making the personnel calls will have to wake up and smell the coffee...

I have read that both the Eagles and Giants passing defenses aren't very good. And although I didn't watch the game in week 1, there were a lot of people saying that the Jags should have blown them away if it weren't for dropped passes.

I wouldn't want to make a QB switch if Cousins is performing well, but then again, there's no doubt in my mind that if Griffin comes back the job will be handed right back to him.

I couldn't disagree more, and I think you need to do a little more reading on RGIII's injury. Its pretty unlikely that he's going to be play again this year, and even when he is cleared its going to take some time to get his mobility back.

This is about Kirk Cousins right now. If he plays well this season, we'll see a real QB competition next summer.
