Early reports are a dislocated ankle, which apparently often occur in conjunction with a fracture. If true, he could be done for the year.

Discussions and news reports giving us more information in here, please.

Robert is likely done for this season sadly, dislocated ankles take around 3 months to heal, bad ones a lot longer. Shame as he was looking good up to that point.

Best hope is that they called it wrong and its a sprain - but that's being highly optimistic to say the least.

On the plus side: The injuries to RG3 and DJax are not as devastating to the effectiveness of the team as perhaps some people will think. Cousins is as good a backup as there is in the league and some misguided souls have even been clammering for him to start ahead of RG3. We're much stronger at WR than last year; Roberts is a top player, Ryan Grant looks great and Robinson looks like he's taken a step up. When you have Moss not suiting up that says a lot for your depth.

Even though it wouldn't have grabbed the headlines in the same way IMO things would have been FAR worse for the Skins hopes of winning games this season if Trent Williams and Ryan Clark went down with injuries for example, we have no depth at those positions.

Get well soon RG3!

I feel very bad for Robert. As annoying as he can be, like a middle school boy, he is by all account a good guy and works very hard. I hope he can return and continue his career. But, I will admit, if we have to roll the rest of the season with Cousins I am a little relived since we will not have to hear every expert talk about Robert every time he overthrows a receiver or takes a bad hit. Plus, we don't have to hold our breath every time he takes a snap.

I imagine my feeling is like knowing in your heart you have sickness and you imagine the worse. Then, you are diagnosed and are relived because you can focus on what you know and getting better. I kind of feel that way in a much less serious way here - we all felt like he would get hurt and all the experts would be right. Now, he is hurt so we have to move on with what we have - which is a capable NFL QB. He may never be a super star but he can play. Let's roll with what we know.

Looking at replays... that's no sprain... I bet he's out for the year...

No, you could see the ankle pop on the replay, and his foot remained at an odd angle afterwards. Best case is that it's only a dislocation, with no tendon injuries or bone fractures.

I do not think we'll see Robert play again this season - he was showing that when used correctly he can be a devastating QB for defenders and defensive coordinators

we are very fortunate to have a capable back-up QB but the offensive line is obviously going to be under a lot more pressure against good defenses because Kirk does not have the ability to buy time

hopefully the medical reports on the ankle injury are not devastating

I think because we are waiting on tests today to get official word. If it's just a dislocated ankle, maybe the shorter timeframe is realistic. But if there is bone and/or tendon damage, it could be much, much worse.

What a freak injury... so sad but it is what it is and I agree the silver lining certainly is that the "qb controversy" headlines can take the back burner... until he is cleared to play. The what if game is what ever but it certainly looked like RG3 was going to have a field day vs jax... I hope captain Kirk can keep the momentum going and deliver a beat down in Philly!!

Thoughts and prayer are with Robert, ( I know he gets on here ) and I wish you the best man!!

it's not just the potential of that... but ankle dislocations also can cause nerve and blood vessel damage... they may not know the full scope of that,, if any, until the swelling goes down. The good thing is, Bob protected the injured ankle from the very second it was hurt...
Best Wishes, Robert!

One thing I don't want to see is RG3 rushing back with an ankle brace on hobbling around in December ... I saw my fill of that in 2013.

Sit him this entire season even if he wants to come back late this year ... then re-evaluate next July

Honestly I think Cousins is twice the QB that RG3 is, and I would like to Cousins be our starting QB for the next decade.

Felt terrible for RGIII. What a freak play. And he still completed that pass!!!!

Personally I hope that he does come back this season, but that he's not being rushed back to play. Maybe Cousins leads us into the playoffs and we have a healthy RGIII backing HIM up. :)

I want the REDSKINS to win. I like both Cousins and Griffin, and want to see both do well, don't care who is playing as long as they are playing well. I am fed up to HERE with the anti-Griffin fans who take as their personal mission to use last year and this injury as proof that Cousins is the better QB. That just doesn't make any sense.

Griffin is out for a while, who knows exactly how long yet. Until then, NEXT MAN UP.

While Cousins had a great game yesterday (actually, a great first half & a good second half)...I don't believe we are better off with him over RGIII. RGIII brings stuff to the game that other teams had to plan for and deal with!

Now that the Eagles, Giants, Seahawks, etc. know Kirk is our QB (and won't be running around), they'll game plan for him. He has to show me he can win games from the start when he's the guy. I sure hope he and our offensive line is ready for that! I'd love to have two great QBs...

RGIII was looking darn good when he played yesterday. Great pass to DJax early on, too bad he didn't hold it. If he does, the injury to RGIII doesn't happen. If and buts...

That was a clear catch to DJax, the refs blew that one big time.

Per NFL app week 2 injury report-

3. the Redskins got some moderately good news regarding the health of the Redskins' franchise quarterback Robert Griffin III. An MRI revealed Monday he did not suffer an ankle fracture, which was the initial concern. Griffin suffered a dislocated ankle against the Jaguars and coach Jay Gruden said they won't know the timetable on how long he'll be out for a few weeks. Gruden also said he's optimistic that RGIII could return this season and that they aren't considering him for injured reserve.

4. Things are also looking up regarding DeSean Jackson, who left the game shortly after RGIII's injury with a shoulder sprain. Jackson said he intends to play this week against the Eagles, Rapoport reported, per a source who has spoken to him. Gruden said he is day to day and Jackson's playing status will be determined based on pain throughout the week.

Being that he caught it.. maintained possession and switched hands it absolutely WAS a catch... how the zebras conferred with NY and STILL got it wrong speaks volumes about the league and what they consider fair regarding the Redskins. i was actually more concerned the chances of it getting called a fumble- being down and touched before it came out being subjected to the biased zebras was a little worrisome.

That was a catch. It was so much a catch it wasn't funny. Even the idiot former ref who hates us said it was a catch. It was a catch.

You all have to agree that RG is brittle beyond belief. He's been hurt in all three seasons he's played. I don't ever recall any redskins player dislocating their ankle by running to the sidelines (name one other than rg). It's clear that RG has a brittle, frail body that cannot take NFL hits and punishment. Concussions, blown out knee, dislocated ankle. The 3 years worth of evidence is there and obvious to anyone who has been watching the games. I don't see the point of investing time and money into someone that cannot stay on the field. He is another Jordon Reed, Malcolm Kelly type of player. And I don't think he's that great a player even when he's on the field. One thing is for sure, if he ever does come back, he will be running slower and slower with all these injuries piling up -- they all take a toll on the body over time.

This is just ridiculous. Concussions aren't proof of frailty, and RGIII did not sustain any injuries last year. He has missed a total of one start, due to injury, in his career. The highlighted portion obviously is the impetus coloring your opinion, and it's just flat out wrong. His record-setting, ROY performance in 2012 proves that.

Uh, no he hasn't.

Please share with us the details of how he was hurt in the 2013 season. I must have missed that injury.
