Skins Add Tommy Rees?

The Redskins seem clueless and themeless again. What is the point of adding Tommy Rees, a pocket passer with no running ability, to the roster? They should have other dual threat quarterbacks on their bench backing up Backyard Bob, not guys like Rees or Couisins.

If Couisins or some other pocket passer was the starter than adding Rees as a development project backup might make sense. Rees was miscast in Kelly's spread option offense. Rees might have real potential in a pro offense, I don't know but he doesn't make sense for Washington and whatever offense they cobble together for Griffin to run, the emphasis on run.

One element of success is consistency of purpose, the Skins have no discernible strategy other than build around Griffin and Rees doesn't add anything to a Griffin centric team. There are lots of dual threat, spread option quarterbacks they could have added to the roster and used in a pinch, what is the point of this? Rees must not have good options so he took what he could get.

What in this says Rees will be backing up 'backyard bob' ? And since when do you need a running QB for a camp arm?

I'm not sure it would make sense wasting QB reps in camp on a guy that is a misfit and unsuited for even the practice squad. The have 3 QBs on the roster who need to learn the new offense this summer a so called camp arm doesn't make sense. A dual threat like Pat White or some younger guy would make some sense to me but Tommy Rees?

It looks like either a poor choice or the only choice for Rees. It would be interesting to see what he could do in a real pro system. I'm not saying he's good enough but he might be and was in the wrong kind of offense in college.

Of course it wouldn't make sense wasting QB reps in camp on a guy that is a misfit and unsuited for even the practice squad. Of course, for that sentence to make any sense, you'd have to buy your premise re: misfit and unsuited for even PS. Dismissing that out of hand (because, seriously), the use of a camp arm is for when you still have time left in a pre-season game that you aren't putting your #1 or #2 in for and your #3 just got his bell rung, or played most of the game (see 4th preseason game). If you think Colt McCoy is going to be on the roster for regular season (which is not a stupid call, by the way) you don't want to unnecessarily subject him to playing with future grocery baggers in pre-season. HELLO Tommy Rees! Or for any other reason men paid money to make decisions about these things can come up with. It always makes sense.

They need arms in camp so the arms don't fall off the guys we plan to play. Don't sweat it.

We also need arms in camp to throw to the WR's we'll be evaluating.

Just food for though. Sure Rees isn't similar to Robert at all but that's a good thing. There are lost of guys in the NFL that are pocket passers and Rees will give our 1st string defense a different look.

Redskins released Tommy Rees yesterday. Guess there was no point in getting your panties all twisted up about the team kicking the tires on a sixth string camp arm.

Obviously, the team remains as incompetent as ever, when it comes to talent evaluation. (desperately seeking sarcasm smilie)
