Stephen Bowen - DL - Redskins

CSN Washington suggests Redskins RE Stephen Bowen could be a cap casualty.
Bowen underwent microfracture surgery in December and is out until mid-summer at soonest. There is some question about his availability for training camp. Turning 30 next month, Bowen came in 40th among 45 qualifiers in Pro Football Focus' 3-4 defensive end ratings. He's owed $4.5 million in 2014.

Redskins DE Stephen Bowen (knee) sat out all spring practices, and may not be ready for a "major role" once training camp starts.

Bowen is a 30-year-old trying to recover from microfracture surgery, a tall feat for even the most physically fit. He's currently penciled in as the Redskins' No. 4 end, behind starters LE Chris Baker and RE Jason Hatcher and top reserve Jarvis Jenkins.

Bowen's due $4.5 million and may not be long (sic) for the roster.

Redskins DE Stephen Bowen has agreed to renegotiate his contract.

Bowen had a 2014 cap charge of $7 million and was due $4.4 million in base salary. The move likely secures his roster spot.

Eight months removed from microfracture surgery, Bowen has yet to practice in training camp.

It would be interesting to know what the terms are. Bowen has been decent for us, but it seems like it's a pretty bad injury situation. Hopefully he's closer than it seems to be.
