he needs to work under someone other than his father and get his stuff together so he can be considered for a HC gig again

We both explained our hates to the Hogster about a year ago. Apparently, his hate for the 49Rs had "better" reasons behind it than our hates for the Ravens did.

I think the Hogster said he would hate the team more that impacted out trophy case more.

As much as I hate to say this, I have to agree with the Hogster.

1 makes complete sense to me. Hogster grew up in the 80s. I think I'd feel the same way concerning my relative hate for the 49Rs and Ravens if I had too. Heck, I might even like the Ravens.

2 Makes no sense to me. I went to Colts games in Memorial Stadium. I saw John Unitas throw passes. It is very personal for me. It's not from TV.

3 Since 2 makes no sense to me, neither does 3.


I think the difference between us - me and Hogster - (if you go back and look at the thread) is I understand his reasons but he ridicules mine. Of course, I think the whole thing was in Smack so I get it. He asked me and LPJ why the Raven Hate, we gave honest answers, then he started espousing the Objectively Correct Rules of Fandom According to Hogster. I readily admit it all goes back to my childhood and am convinced the same is true of Hogster. It's nothing to be ashamed of and it's the truth.

I think almost all of us feel the way we do about almost all things based on our upbringing and formative years. It is rare when we change our minds.

It's definitely #1. We're close to the same age, and I'm guessing Hogster is about 10-15 years younger. Like I said, I remember the conversation now, and I thought both you and LPJ both had valid reasons. If I had grown up in DC, I might feel the same, but we moved to Atlanta in 1970, and then NYC in 1977, so I've never really begrudged Baltimore for the Ravens. I'm still pissed at the 49ers for being crowned the team of the '80s when we all know that title really belongs to the Skins.

I never liked the father and son being head coach and OC. But I always liked Kyle and Mike.
