"Just heard (6:30 pm 4/11) Chris Landry on Fox Sports Radio say that the Redskins are now talking with the Chargers about trading for the #1 pick in the draft. Landry says the Raiders are not willing to trade their #2 pick at this point. The Skins are unhappy that Samuels will not give the team salary cap relief and are very high on Gallery. Skins do not believe Gallery will last past the third pick. Landry says no one is talking officially but that is the word around Redskins Park.

Shottenheimer is obviously familiar with Samuels (as Turner is with Oakland). Chargers also need a receiver. I wonder if Samuels, Gardner and our #5 pick are being dangled as bait. If so, I hope we are getting more than just the #1."

he didn't coach trotter. trotters first year was under marvin lewis. but schotty did draft gardner.

Not going to happen. Just another smokescreen good ole' Vinny was talking about. There is no need for us to trade for the 1st overall pick.

The thought has crossed my mind that all this posturing is simply to get the Giants to either give up on trying to go after Gallery, or to make them have to give up more than they would have in order to get him. There isn't a whole lot that we can do to mess with Philly or Dallas, but with the Giants being right in front of us it would make sense to try to sike them into jumping the gun, or giving up too much.

I think it has to be something along these lines, because it otherwise just doesn't make much sense. If Oakland, or the Chargers really wanted a stud LT they would just go ahead and draft Gallery. It doesn't make sense from our stand point because we don't get any cap relief and Samuels is a Core Redskin.
