Are you kidding me?!?!?!
Are the Redskins seriously considering trading Samuels and the #5 pick to Oakland for their pick? Someone pinch me and wake me up from this nightmare!!!
Why oh why are the Redskins considering signing Gallery to help on the OL when they need much much more help on the DL and/or at safety. Hell, even taking Winslow at #5 to give us a formidable H-back is still a better consideration!!
Let's hear it. What is everyone else thinking out there?!?!

No way we make this deal! We are ripping ourselves off! I say we only consider if the deal was Samuels for the #2 pick only if Chris wont restructure his contract! Then we could have Gallery and Harris, Taylor or Udeze also!

I can't believe they are pulling the same crap they did with the Portis for Bailey trade - "Here, we'll give you a person of equal value (chris for the #2) and then throw in an awesome pick for no apparent reason!" What the hell is going on?!?!?!?!?! If you're going to trade Chris for the #2 you don't throw in the #5 pick too! Jeez!
Unless of course they are getting more than just the #2 pick. Hmmm... what about Samuels and the #5 for the #2 and TE Teyo Johnson (6'5", 260, 2nd round pick last year). That would take care of our H-back/TE problem and enable us to either take Sean Taylor and hope Brandon Winey can fill in the LT spot or get Gallery. Unfortunately they keep telling me I can't be the GM.
All I know is that Chris and the #5 is worth more than the #2.

If it were indeed their fifth overall then this would have to be the worst trade in the history of the league....unless the second overall pick turned out to be God or something.
I have to assume that the article got it wrong, and this would trade would include the Skin's Fifth round pick, not their fifth overall pick.

Alright everyone, hold your horses. As I was corrected in a previous thread, I believe that the rumor is Samuels and the 5th round pick for the second overall (not the #5 pick). That way we would have the overall #2 and #5 in the draft. Otherwise, I would have to agree with you that this would be a horrendous trade.

Thats not what FOXSports.com is saying:
The Raiders would trade the second pick in the draft to the Redskins for the fifth overall pick and LT Chris Samuels.

I still think it's a bunch of BS.... and if it did go down like that.... it would be the worse thing we've done any offseason since signing Peeion Sanders!

Maybe someone @ Foxsports is mistaken. I don't think anyone would see this as a good trade-except Oakland.

I hope that it was a mistake because this will be the dumbest thing the redskins can do. I cant believe that Synder and Vinny can be this stupid. I am really going out of my mind.I was excited about the draft I was already planning my weekend out but if this go down it would not even be worth watching. Please somebody find out something and tell me it was a mistake.

yeah, originally i heard that it was samuels and the skin's 5th round pick...that makes sense. gallery for basically vs. samuels and sean taylor make NO SENSE at all. if that happens

Of course, I picked the "Are you kidding me?" option. I think this is completely stupid to even think about how bad this trade would be. As good as Jansen, Winey, Dockery, etc. have performed, Chris has usually played just as good and very often, better.
I'm not going to say it's bogus (because I believe in Murphy's Law) but it just doesn't make sense on any level.
Mabe it's not a bad idea to get rid of Samuels

First, I don't agree on Samuels and #5 overall. That would be ludircous. Hopefully, it is the 5th rounder.
BUT... it makes no sense to keep an expensive LT for a left-handed starting QB. Chris isn't making it easy for the team financially, and his position on next year's squad does not warrant the high price tag.
Contrary to "expert opinion", it looks like Joe IS looking to rebuild through the draft. Even though he promised to start that next year, it seems he's ready, willing, and able to do it ASAP.
It's bad that Jake will have to get another pic for this message board, though. That's a great one with Chris.

Trading Samuels and our 5th rounder for the #2 overall is a fair trade. Trading Samuels and our #5 to move up a couple of spots in insane. Whatever happens, I'm just praying we get Sean Taylor. The main thing that scares me about all of this is that we don't get Taylor.

I Hope that this is a joke. Why would we need to get rid of this dude? We need to stay put and leave Oakland alone!!!

If its Samuels and the 5th round pick then my vote is that its a good deal. Assuming Gallery can be signed for less than Samuels then we end up with a quality OL'man, plus we can still draft for Taylor, plus we get extra cap space ...
I can't see it happening though

they're kidding us...it'll never happen...posturing to make the draft more interesting on both our FO and the press
I hope we draft Taylor with our #5 and retain CS for at least this season if he doesn't renegotiate....and for his career if he does

what extra cap space?!?! it'll cost us 9 mill to trade samuels! and then signing 2 top 5 draft picks on top of that?? we dont have that kind of money!

No team in their right mind would consider that trade
