I am from charlotte, nc. I was at a summer league basketball game last night and guess who was on the court. 7/9/13 Lance Lewis. He is faster than lighting no kidding. My ? is why would u be playing basketball, when training camp is 15 days away.

ummm... because lots of contracts have clauses that protect the team if injured in a high risk activity like this... my understanding is that it's pretty standard these days.

and your point is what exactly?

should all NFL players refrain from any and all sport (or anything 'athletic' during the off season) that might put their 'career' at risk?

My point is obvious. Connor Barth is out for the season. Tore his achilles playing basketball.

Seemed like the right thread to post this news in even though he's not a Redskin.

Monkey

More seriously, if I were a GM/coach I would NOT try to keep my players from playing pick up bball in the offseason BUT I'd encourage them to do it in February and March and to drop it by July or August. That way, if they pull a hammy or something they'd have plenty of time to recover. Naturally, something major like an achilles injury or a blown out knee in February or March really can't be accounted for without acting like an overprotective parent.

Chillax. Had a feeling you or someone else would jump on this one.

get real - life is to be lived - athletes can't just not do anything

they could get hurt driving a car too - maybe they should not do anything ...

Where was I unreal? My position is very commonsensical ... you need to get real. Maybe you need to take a cue from the Hogster and read slower. Sounds to me like you're just looking for an argument.

Probably because he knows he's not going to make the team anyway. So, YOLO

Griff just scheduled a team pipeline surfing trip the weekend before camp starts for anyone who's never done it but wants to try. Word is Shanny and Danny are pumped. Kawabunga!
