Bronco Trade?

How come the press isn't bad-mouthing this Bronco trade?
If the redskins had done this we'd be getting a ton of bad press for trading up 7 spots, but losing a decent corner and our 4 round pick???

We should be hearing nothing but "the Bronco's lost everything they gained by getting a #2 and Champ for Portis by dumping their #4 and O'neal for the 6 spots higher"

Plus, it's only 7 picks higher and 3 weeks till the draft??? Gee, if I was #14 thru #17, I'd take the guy Denver wants and make them anti-up more???

Redskins would get lam-basted by the press for this, but it's nothing that the donkeys are doing it???

Broncos trade

I don`t know where Montana first saw this but its reported at NFL.Com. The Broncos have traded CB Deltha O`Neill to the Bengals. The deal also involves a swap of first round picks so that the Broncos now have the 17th Pick and the Bengals get the 24th. The Broncos also send their 4th Round pick to Cincinnati.
I don`t really see why this is a good deal for the Broncos - they move 7 spots up the first round but it only takes them to 17th so they will still be waiting for what happens ahead of them to sort itself out. They also have to give up their 4th rnd pick. I don`t really get it but maybe they just wanted shot of O`Neill in as constructive a way as possible.

Our British friend is spot on with his comment. The Broncos were so frustrated by O'Neal that they were planning to move him to wide receiver this year. He is a very good kick/punt returner, but he is no better than a nickel corner.

Denver probably has its eyes set on a specific player who they beleive will fall between 17-24. Therefore I think they probably traded picks and the aging CB (who just happened to have jersey #24) to get this player they love.

They are not getting bad press because O'neal failed for the Broncos and 4th round pick isn't that high.

The Broncos want a top flight RB since they traded Portis. The only two teams that are seen as wanting RBs are the Patriots, who select 21st in the first round, and the Cowboys, who select 22nd in the first round. So, the Broncos jumped ahead of both of them in order to get the best RB in the draft.

But why would they play their hand so early? Now they gave the Cowboys and Patriots two weeks to find a way to jump back ahead of them. If they were smart they would have waited until the Bengals were on the clock on the 24th.

I have to agree Jansen. Dallas hasn't done much to upgrade their running or passing game in the offseason. It doesn't take a genuis to figure out that Dallas will be taking a running back in the draft. Pulling this move will give Jerry Jones to much time to get off his behind and figure out a way to move ahead of them to get the runningback they want.

With the Dallas problems at corner and oline, I can't see anyway they take a running back in the first round. With the Allen and Keyshawn for Galloway deal Dallass may be in some trouble with the $$

I'm pretty sure the pukes have plenty of cap room. They do however have holes to fill on the OL, running back and corner.

Just FYI, if Allen is out pre-June 1, Dallas will have around $6.2 million left. Figuring $1.5 for draft picks, they should have just over $4.5 left for June 1st cuts.

all indications are that he is, correct?

that leaves a tremendous hole on that left side to fill

I thought there was more money than that...but I guess Allen's hit took it's toll?

Allen's a shell of his former self. While still strong, he's lost any agility he had. His legs have been shot for the last 2 years. If he got healthy again, he's worth having on the team, even with his clashing with Parcells. I just have doubts if he'll ever be healthy again.

Several things that most 'skins fans may not be aware of about Allen. While he claimed injuries last season, Parcells wouldn't list him on the injury report. There were also several reports that he was contemplating retirement last preseason and even missed a flight to a preseason game. Add that his wife alledgedly received an inheritance that dwarfs Allen's contract and it leaves one questioning whether it is injuries causing his problems or a lack of desire any longer.

As for replacing him if he's gone, Dinapoli has started games at guard and Dimingo Graham, who's also started in the league, was signed. It's one of them unless a guard is drafted early.
