Schedule: Prime Time

Slow offseason around here, but tonight, the NFL releases the schedule. I should have posted this earlier, but I am curious to know how many games you think/want us to have in Prime Time. Success and excitement around a team seems to generate more of these late games. How many do you think we will get? I am thinking we get at least 6 games in prime time, including one on Thanksgiving. I think ours was easily the most exciting game that day, and I think the league will put it back. Other than that day, I am thinking we get at least 5 more. RG 3 is exciting to watch, and I think, despite our cap issues, we are going to be an EXCITING team this year. Thoughts?

The cap on prime time games today is 5, which does not count the 1 additional possible flex game into primetime.

A team can be scheduled for a maximum of five prime time games, four on Sunday or Monday night and one on Thursday. The overall maximum is six, so a team scheduled for five can have one flexed to Sunday night after Week 10.

All I care about is that the Falcons game is at 1pm on a Sunday.

Ahh... Did not realize that. Thanks! Must be a fairly new rule, b/c I know I have counted more than that for some teams in the past.
So.... I think we get 6 then, with one being flexed.

Me either until I happened to read it earlier today.

I hope we get 5+1 (and none of them are against the Falcons!!! [-o< )

Because I plan on attending that game, and I'd rather not have to do it on Monday, Sunday or Thursday night and go to work the next morning. Also, if for some reason I can't (I will, but just in case), I'll be guaranteed to watch it at home, so I don't need it to be a primetime.

The eagles have played the eventual superbowl winners last 4 seasons in their opening game

Good omen for the skins?

Well, we got five prime time games, but unfortunately, we will not be playing on Thanksgiving.

I really don't like playing the Egirls opening day!

First time coaches usually get off to a good start because no one has any tape on them. I don't expect them to do well this year, but I do expect them to win more games early than late.

Our bye is week 5. That it's too early! The only advantage to that is If RG3 starts the season on the PuP list then it is one less game he will miss.

A few comments about he schedule:
1. We play each of our divisional opponents in prime time.
2. We don't play the G-strings until the final 5 weeks of the season. You know Mara had a hand in that.
3. I agree that week 5 is too early for the bye. Another Mara jobbing?

I'm not worried about the schedule, at all. They're going to win 9+ games this year, whoever gives us the W's is meaningless to me.

This is no longer a team that we have to hope/wish/pray will win games. They're good enough to beat people, handily.

Agreed, but I definitely smirked at eagles first game and frowned a bit at such an early bye. Just seemed weird to have it that early. I expect very good things from this team this year, and I do realistically, not hopefully.

Yeah I'm not hyped about that first MNF game. I doubt RGIII will be ready by then, so its not going to be the game it could have been. Also after waiting all off season and pre-season, I kind of hate not playing on Sunday that first weekend.

Nice that its a home game!

Good sentiment from Chris though. I agree. They can play whoever and whenever. Just win enough of those games to get into the playoffs.

I hate the Monday night opener. Sucks to have to wait through opening day.

For the sake of trying to be too clever by half, wouldn't the fact that we're scheduled for the MNF opener give us reason to think that the league office has received some kind of assurance or been led to believe or at least gotten indicators, that Griffin will be playing in that game? I vaguely recall reports that they were inquiring as to just such information from the redskins a few months back.

:hmm:

Funsho,

I read that too, but reading a little more closely, they played the eventual superbowl champ in their home opener, which would be San Diego in Week 2.

Yep. that settles it. We're most certainly into the depths of the off season and desperately need the draft to have something tangible to talk about.
