technically it was close to a strike, it just has to cross above the knee. Still, No.

You are right, of course... but it was too close to take on a 3-2 count...

Pitch track showed it 6 inches low and 6 inches wide. That's what she said, anyway. If you search for some vid you'll see the pitcher expecting to get the ball back and then saying WOW! He and the catcher are both laughing as the run for the dugout.

So... you only show part of the evidence, and come in here playing fact master? WTH?

So wrong. [-X

As I'm sure you heard MANY times from your second grade teacher... "I'm VERY disappointed in you, Darthy... "

or something like that...

Yeah, and the view is from left center, so it's hard to see how high the pitch is as it crosses the plate and also from the side it's wide to. As I said, too close to take. At least from that angle.

1st link describes it perfectly including umps admission of blowing it. Scroll down half a page.

Here are four different calls by announcers. Some are quite funny. Watch the fans and the batter. Watch Nathan adjust his hat and glove in expectation of getting the ball back then smiling and saying "Wow." The only one in the park who missed it was the ump. Happens sometimes.

Well, I see absolutely no reason why the basket shouldn't have been awarded....
