I hope the Chargers don't go for this. I would hate to see the Giants end up with Eli Manning.

I think that the Chargers -will- be tempted to accept. They could still end up with Ben Roethlisberger plus several other picks to meet their many needs.
The crucial points for the Skins would be that:
1) Both Taylor and Winslow would very likely still be available by the #5 pick.
2) Gallery would also be available if the rumour about Samuels going to Oakland has any foundation whatsoever.

Would you rather see them with Roethlisberger and a full compliment of draft choices?
From everything I've read, there isn't much difference between the top two quarterbacks, and Rivers isn't far behind them. I don't want to see Manning in New York either. But if they make the move, it's at least some consolation that the Giants will have to surrender a bunch of picks they might otherwise have used to draft good players. Meanwhile it's possible they'd be doing it to pick a player who might or might not be any better than the one they could have picked if they'd stayed put.
In any case, resign yourself to the fact that the Giants are going to come away from the draft with something great. That's what happens when you earn the fourth pick.

We can not control what others do. But we can take it into consideration to look into all of our options.
My preference, with many others of us, is to pick Taylor over all others. But we can not be sure to land him even at #5. So, it is interesting to look at our other options, even if we trade down.

I like Marty, and I like what he's doing with the Giants. He needs to address more needs on his team, and if they're gonna get it from the Giants, even better. Everyone's making a big deal about the Chargers missing out on Vick, and how Marty is on the verge of repeating the same mistake; in that same draft, the Chargers got L.T. AND Drew Brees, who, though he had a bad 2003-2004 campaign, is just as good and more seasoned than either of these QBs. Remember, Brees had just as much fan fare as these guys, and his strong relationship with LT has the potential for may more years of success for the Chargers, if they finally figure out how to win. Manning = overrated.

Even if this trade goes through I doubt that Gallery would be around. If Oakland wants Samuels so bad they would just draft Gallery and trade him for Samuels. Still, I doubt that Oakland would complete this trade. It doesn't make sense from thier stand point. Why trade a player that is seen to be of roughly equal quality to Samuels, but who is going to be a lot cheaper.
