My take on the draft

There are many good players and some great players around in the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th rounds if we can get a pick somehow (trade Gardner, Candidate, Trotter or one of our six other receivers). Then we could fill a hole we certainly have on the line and still get the
star defensive player in the draft with that 5th pick (SEAN TAYLOR). With our 5th rounder we can get a one demensional TE/H-back either receiving or blocking guy. With our six round pick get another defensive lineman or special teams guy. This is the best case scenario the way I see it.
To recap:
1st Round (5th overall): Sean Taylor, S Miami
3rd Round (for Gardner): Isaac Hilton, DE Hampton
5th Round (139th overall): Kris Wilson, TE Pitt or Chris

ey, TE Utah St., or Ronnie Ghent, TE Louiseville
6th Round (180th overall): Claude Hariout, DE Pitt or Chad Pugh, DT TCU

Gardner deserves at least one more year to prove himself. He has played with:
Jeff George
Kent Grham
Tony Banks
Shane Mathews
Danny Wuerfull
Rob Johnson
Tim Hasselbeck
Patrick Ramsey.
All in just 3 years. Plus one system he was in was run 80percent of the time. And the other system focused on the speed receiver and only focused on getting them the ball.
I beleive that he can do very good in Gibbs' system as a possesion receiver.
Also Trotter will be gone anyway, so why not just trade him. And maybe package Moore and Candidate to see if we can anything for them.

I agree, Rod has some serious skills, just wait for him to show them off.
Gibbs needs a possession reviever in addition to speed right?

If Gibbs needs Gardner, then trade one of the other guys I mentioned for a 3rd rounder. Didn't we give a fourth rounder to St. Louis for Candidate last year??

Well, if you're looking to trade someone for extra picks on the first day, I think the only one out of the three mentioned that will get any interest is Gardner.
I don't see anybody jumping in front of the train to grab Trotter from us. His contract is pretty steep, and if you look around, there are still some pretty good LBs out of the market that aren't getting a lot of interest. Anybody that wants Trotter is going to wait until June 2 to talk to him, when they can sign him to a smaller contract than the one
that's in place right now. The other problem (for us) with trading Trotter is the roughly $5.4M cap hit that we have to absorb this year.
Nobody's going to jump at Candidate, either. He came here, got injured (durability issues for a 'primary' running back--I don't think I'd jump for that), gained a whopping 800 yards. We got stoned on this deal. He'll be cut in June, and might get on with another team after that.
Gardner is the only legitimate trade option out of the group. He's got good upside, still young, and doesn't have a history of injuries. I like Gardner, wish we would keep him, but we are pretty healthy at WR right now. We might get a 2nd rounder for him. If the offer is less than that, I'd turn it down.
So, with that in mind, I think that there will be little interest in any of these trades. If the 'Skins really want more picks this April, it's time to seriously consider trading out of the #5 pick. I know all the Winslow and Taylor-lovers will be happy with staying at #5, but for those of us that think the real needs are elsewhere, we better hope that somebody shows up on draft day ready to make a trade.
I hope the Redskins are ready to listen to the offer.
