I have a paper to write for PE[Don't ask, the coach is crazy.], and I need to know info on Art Monk. The paper is on who do you think was the best WR in history and I chose Art Monk.
So, can I have some facts and such? Also, if you have any quotes made on him by ranking people, it'd be nice, too. Thankyou in advance.

Well. Apparently, it is a punishment. It is because alot of girls wouldn't stop talking and, I don't know if this is good or bad, since my period has alot of girls, it is kind of a punishment.
Also, I do play football. I have played for 5 years. Offensive line all five years and for two years, now in Junior High, I am also playing D-Line and short yardage MLB.

Try to find a tape of Art Monk breaking Steve Largent's record...that will pretty much some it up.
you must bring up the fact that he has been shafted the past few years by Sports Illustrated's Dr. Z (aka Cowboy Fan).
ART NEEDS TO BE ELECTED TO THE HOF THIS YEAR OR BUST!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He might of made it this year... But... He was going up against John Elway. Not good chances.

John Elway got in over Cliff Harris? I know this is a Redskins fan site, yet I still think he[and Charlie Waters]is very good and deserves to get into the HOF more than John Elway.

2 Cowboys huh? Are you a Cowboyz fan?
Do you think they should be in the HOF over Monk too?

God no. I'm not a Cowboys fan, but I still respect those two. Just because they were Cowboys doesn't mean they weren't good players. Also, Charlie Waters was an Arkansas native.
And, no, I do NOT think they deserve the HOF over Art Monk, but I don't like John Elway and think Cliff Harris and Art Monk deserved it over him... Thing is... Wouldn't they have to shake hands? That is like telling a Cal Player and a Stanford player to shake hands.

Jake threw me a bone when he wrote:Just send a PM to TCWest.

Who,
me ? Art
Who ? Never heard of him.
Wait a minute. There's something gnawing at the back of my brain. Could be a mouse. Could be a little repressed memory. Certainly, you don't mean James Arthur Monk, born December 5th, 1957 in White Plains, NY ?
Nope. Sorry. You got the wrong guy.
I ain't never heard of 'im.

First of all, congratulations on your 1,100th post. Second of all.. Never heard about the "James" of his name. Shows how much I know.

Also, I really want lots of dumb "did-you-know" facts, too, please. Basically just overwhelm ol' PE Coach with those and make him put the paper down and slap me with an "A".

Well, it appears that we might be writing that paper for you afterall. Nevertheless, I thought I might include another interesting tidbit about Art. He is the cousin of Thelonias (sp) Monk, the great jazz musician. I figured that if you want to really impress your PE teacher, then go all out and really impress him/her.

Well... Knowing him, I need something relating to Janet Jackson, Elvis, or Butterfingers. Then, and only then, will I impress him. Thankyou all for the help.

Janet Jackson, Elvis, or Butterfingers.... Sorry, Smithian, I don't think you're going to be able to make a connection to Monk on any of those....
Butterfingers?? Not Monk. My memories of Monk ar going across the middle, grabbing "possesion" catches that kept the chains moving, that kept he offense on the field, that kept the march towards the end zone moving, always moving....
Elvis? I don't think so. Monk was always (to me) one of the quiet heros, one of the guys that didn't blow his own horn, whose focus was on the team, always on the team....
Janet Jackson??? No, I don't think so. I don't ever remeber seeing him make a spectacle of himself, or his team, on the national stage....
If this is what you need to impress your PE teacher, you're screwed. Or more likely, you picked the wrong subject. Art Monk is none of these.

Well... Ok. Actually, that was a joke. Also, he'll probably read the first pahge, check and see if I have five pages, give it a grade, then toss it in the trash can.

Here's a Monk moment:
In 1985, minutes after Joe Theisman was carted off the field with a shattered leg, Jay Schroeder walked up to the huddle to take over at QB. One of the MNF announcers at the time, I don't remember which, said that Schroeder was certainly going to be pretty rusty. His first pass, I think on the first play from scrimmage, was a 43-yarder to a diving Art Monk. Rusty indeed. The announcers laughed about it.
I'm new on this board but have been a Skins fan for over 20 years. Art Monk was a rookie the first year I started watching them.
Saw this link in my referrer logs to a post I wrote about Monk when he was up for the Hall. Let me know if it helps you on your paper. Good luck.

You know it is kind of hard to think of great memories about Monk because his was such a constent receiver that never had an ego. He was the silent leader. All I remember that when needed a 1st down and keep the ball moving, they always looked in Monks direction. Actually the day he broke Largents all time record was pretty special. Thats the day that I actually thought I saw Monk express some emotion. Monk will always be the best of all time because he broke all of those records during a time that the NFL was run happy not like the pass happy NFL of today.
