In 2011, the world was introduced to the #Tebowing craze. And just when you thought it was safe to go on the Internet again, a brand new fad is sweeping across the World Wide Web.

.... My friend is a Raiders fan, and already has a #griffining pic on his face book!

I'm not a fan of this kind of stuff, but I have to admit this pic is awesome. It's "Griffining" vs "Romoing."

Not sure, actually, just rubs me the wrong way. Feels like a desperate kitsch move for notoriety, like Tebowing. Kinda like basketball players trying to stick their tongues out like Mike in the 90s.
Kinda fake, to me. Really don't want to see my QB turned into an internet meme like Tebow I guess.

A local reporter tweeted this picture and I thought it was funny!

You can't go to the ground in celebration, so unless he's knocked down on every touchdown, he will cost the team 15 every time

He's not doing it, it's the fans. Anyway, unless he's the one to actually score the TD, he wouldn't be called for an end-zone celebration.

The only issue I have with RGIII doing 'his thing' (as shown) is that he will not be able to take too many hits like that this season
love the kneel down and pointing to heaven stuff - just not sure we need too many sitting poses after hits from LBs or whomever
what great start to a great career PLUS he handled it all well too

Just to be absolutely clear, even though this was already pointed out, Griffining is when fans pose like that photo, not when RGIII does it.
Actually, the same can really be said about Tim Tebow. "Tebowing" really translates to "imitating Tim Tebow," and when Tebow does it, he isn't imitating anyone!

good point - he's only had 1 game - there are going to be a lot of fun times for redskins fans watching this kid play QB
I hope that RGIII gets to do the 'griffining thing' a lot too

That means watching from his butt. I'd rather he was vertically Griffining.

we're going to see a lot of "griffining" over the next 10+ years, from a lot of positions - vertical, kneeling and sitting ... to name a few

Hopefully, in a few years time, 'Griffining' will be something people do to emulate the time RGIII juggled his three SuperBowl trophies in the air after the Redskins claimed their 6th title....
