My interview with Joe Theismann

I'm interviewing the great Joe Thieismann next week for my magazine to preview the Rams v Patriots game coming up at Wembley stadium next month.

I could have spoken to any of the guys put forward by the NFL to promote the game but frankly I thought I'd rather get the thoughts of Joe.

If you have any questions that you'd like answered then let me know and I'll ask him at the end of the interview and give you those answers plus the full interview once it's finished.

Nothing rude or offensive please.....

Questions:

1. Why do you always have so much to say??? (totally kidding)

real question: We all know about you breaking your leg in a game but how tired are you to be talking about it.

If RGIII goes down in a game, Rex comes in as his backup. If Griffin cannot go, does Cousins start the next game, or does Rex get the nod?

I believe that's the consensus around the league. I'm not 100% sure but I also think that was stated by someone on the coaching staff at some point after week 3 preseason game.

ask him why didnt he audible to a run instead of throwing a screen pass in the flat in his own endzone at the end of the first half. who cares if it worked weeks prior against los angeles, that was the superbowl.

Ask him how excited he is to know that I used to walk around the streets of Sussex in a replica Theismann jersey.

Or who was the strangest person he ever played with or against (you might have to exclude John Riggins as an answer).

Or, was there anybody in the Redskins locker room who could talk more than him?

No need to ask #2. The answer is yes.

How much has the game changed since 1979-82,

(a) How much changed because players are bigger, stronger, faster?

(b) How much changed because of new rules that encourage passing?

(c) Could smash-mouth football work today?

These are two serious questions I ALWAYS wanted to ask him:

WHAT WOULD YOU HAVE CHANGED IN YOUR PREPARATION AND GAME-DAY PERFORMANCE AGAINST THE RAIDERS IN SUPERBOWL XVIII???

WHAT DO YOU HAVE TO SAY AGAINST THE CRITICISM MADE BY MANY HARD CORE REDSKINS FANS THAT YOU SPENT MORE TIME AND EXHAUSTED WITH THE MEDIA THAT DAY RATHER THAN PREPARING AND FOCUSING ON THE BIG GAME???

When I worked for GE Consumer Finance, he almost ran over me at the Cincinnati airport. He was in a hurry. It was roughly six or seven years ago. Oh, and he was wearing a leather jacket. We didn't actually talk or anything, but can you ask him if he remembers me?

You won't have to ask Joe anything. He is good at asking himself astute questions and then providing insightful answers.
Actually, i like him better as comemtator than as a player.

1. What's your take regarding the concussion scandal the League faces at this moment? Will you sue the NFL as other prominent players have done?

2. Did you take a shot to the head during your playing years that forced you to leave the game and then return on the coaches request?

3. If by any chance you bump into LT in an elevator, what would you say to him?

Excellent questions. He was a tough guy. Who better to ask?

1. Did you ever hear Joe Gibbs say a real curse word?

2. With the rule changes of today's game, do you think an injury like yours could happen now to a QB?

3. Do you still think Cam Newton wasn't worthy of a 1st round pick?
