Young was released, but re-signed after Allen.

Chris Wilson. He was cut in 2010, but now is back, at least for now.

On January 3, 2007, Wilson signed with the Washington Redskins of the National Football League for a reported three-year contract. In the 2007 season, his rookie season in the NFL, he finished with 13 tackles and four sacks.

Wilson recorded 20 tackles and one sack in the 2009 NFL season.

Initially, Wilson played as a defensive end for the Redskins, but transitioned to outside linebacker when the team switched to a 3-4 defense in the 2010 NFL season.

Check out the 12 Keepers thread started 2 years ago. It asked what 12 guys would be around now.

A few guys did pretty well.

Tandler:

15 pre-Shanahan Redskins remain

The number of players who started prior Shanahan’s arrival could be cut in half by the time the season starts. Some eight of the 15 are on the bubble to varying degrees when it comes to making the final 53-man roster.

Lorenzo Alexander
Anthony Armstrong (PS)
Kevin Barnes
Chris Cooley
Fred Davis
Reed Doughty
London Fletcher
Graham Gano
Kedric Golston
DeAngelo Hall
Rob Jackson
Will Montgomery
Santana Moss
Brian Orakpo
Chris Wilson

Lo, Davis, Fletcher, Golston, Hall, Jackson, Moss and Rakpo. That's 8 counting recent cuts and guessing Reed doesn't make it. Not counting Chris Wilson- but he's back not here since.
I can't see any of those 8 gone by this weekend. What'd I miss?

I forgot monti, but I'm not holding my breath for Doughty this year. Young talent all around the Safety position, and they are just way more athletic then Reed. I know he contributes on special teams but one of these guys may have to fill those shoes.

Wow, so roughly 1/5. Lots of turnover in 3 years, but necessary.

its an interesting list of "survivors/holdovers" ... not many top draft picks. orakpo and fred davis ... and then, golston taken late in the draft and came with a troubled history (off the field tho' as we know) ... read doughty another 6th round pick, the ultimate survivor of all maybe. both golston and doughty got to play from day 1 (some minutes anyway) because of our needs when they were drafted.
then the free agents ... the uniquely durable london fletcher ... and the less consistent DeAngelo Hall.
joe gibbs, the second time, talked about core redskins ... it seems particularly difficult to achieve in modern football.
