Toe in the water

I have been lurking fior years so long that my original ID vanished along with a defunct email address but fear not I have been reading every day. I created a new ID do tip my toe in the water and ask how do you feel about the first game of the regular season.

Is it

A) We are rejuvinated and full or morale, let by a star QB we will crush the shattered and coachless Saints and in doing so the whole media world will say "well they were bound to win that one! poor Saints"

or

B) Stung and full of bitterness the coachless Saints tear the nacent Redskins apart and shatter our rose tinted glasses and in doing so the whole media will say "the Saints rise against all the odds to crush Snyder's dream"

This game is already keeping me up at night so I though to pose it to wise chaps. It seems the media hates us and when we win we cannot win!

a win would be great but as long as we see some flashes of promise from RG3 i'll be pleased. there aren't too many teams as good as the Saints so a loss to them won't be the worst thing in the world.

I've got £20 on us to win that game.

I think we'll surprise them and they'll lack a bit of heart. Who wants to play for a guy who's not even your proper coach...? Why go out of your way to impress them..?? Some of their players may well have written this season off sub-conciously and that QB hold-out doesn't help with the money he got. I'm hoping for turmoil.

Redskins 28 Saints 20

The Saint's offense is a machine.. I'm curious to see what are defense does.

Colston/Moore/Henderson/Graham/Ingram/Sproles/Thomas.. dag gone Drew has big options.

Being the homer that I am, Skins for the win.. 33-30 in overtime.

Let's not put too much pressure on the guy to win now. Cam Newton may have had the best rookie season of all time. Can't expect that from RG3. Not to mention, he's struggled a bit. Keep in mind, he's supposed to - he's a rookie. Be cautiously optimistic.

I hate it when people say this. No one's putting any pressure on him. Any pressure he feels, he's putting on himself. I think he's going to have an even better season than Cam had, but that's just me. If he's just average, or a total bust even, it certainly won't be because of fan's expectations. I can't change anything about this season by my tempering my expectations. Sheesh

Agreed.. all that pressure he put on himself.

Disagree about better season than Cam only because NFC East defenses are way better than the NFC South defenses.

Well, think the Saints are still a formidable team lead by a stud QB... with or without their HC. They will be playing at home.....which merely adds to their advantage. We did play them tough a couple of seasons ago when we were at home.....if Squeez'em hadn't of missed a simple chip shot FG, we would have beaten them on their SB year.

I think we will give them a game.....but would not shock me for us to be on the losing end of that score.

You're right on that, LPJ. I was kind of hoping the Saints would be so beat down and demoralized from losing their coach, players, etc; As long as they have Brees back there, its going to be a tough first game.

I'll give any player who knocks him out of the game $100!!!!

Just kidding. :)

I think we win the first game. It looked to me like the saints ran the ball a lot to set up the pass which wasn't the deal the last few years. If we force the Saints to pass by shutting down the run we win.

Totally wrong.. we WANT them to run the ball my friend. You do not WANT Brees to throw the ball, have you bumped your head bro?

Maybe you didn't see the list of his weapons man, I 100% would rather them run the ball vs throwing. Brees had over 5,000 yards last year throwing the ball.. the brother does that extremely well.

I'd pick us at home against a division rival. I'll Hognosticate us anyway ... duh. I'll take the Saints in my money pool at work. We will likely have trouble keeping up but the Saints are not world beaters on defense.

If we get the ball last we have a chance.

Wrong, any time you can force a team to become one dimensional it is better, no matter how well they throw. If our front 3-4 can keep the pressure on Brees we win. The Cardinals run defense looked like garbage. I have more faith in our guys up front.

P.S. Stop trying to steal Megatron from me!

You sir are indeed a mad man.

I'd rather have the ball in the hands of people like Sproles/Starks/Ridley vs Brees/Rogers/Brady.

Anyday, all day.

Not stealing, just negotiations.

The Saints are not the Pats or Packers. Those teams you don't even need to shut down the run, they do it for you.

I do not want to see Ingram, Thomas, and Sproles getting numbers on us. Brees has the same options at WR -1 this year. I think the passing numbers for that team goes down this year.

27-13 saints.

the typical redskin fan only bothers to study their own team. they have no real idea just how far they have to go. they are miles behind teams like the saints and packers and even the niners, eagles, and cowboys. they will rarely slow the saints offense down.

 The Saints do not use the run to set the pass up. They use the pass to set the run up.

Please put the smoke down it's frying your brain.

If we win against the Saints it will be because of a good offensive showing, good pass rush , and maybe some good secondary play for a change from the defense . I'm with the other guys I would rather see it in the running backs hands any day... than Brees . The saints go to handing the ball off a lot than it means our defense will be doing a hell of a job at keeping Brees in check.

Plaese run it all you want Saints.

The Saints did lose there head coach and Wr depth but I bet you anything Brees is already finding a favorite second WR. I stick with my view if the saints keep it on the ground it can only play to our favor. It will be Rg3 first regular season game and the rookie nerves will probably be there also.

LMAO!! If I had a dollar everytime I heard that during the offseason.

Why is that? Cuz of the coach? Cuz Meacham is gone?

Rogers/Brady/Brees... they are in a class by themselves because they can run their offenses themselves. (Peyton with Colts too)

What changed bro, please tell me because I'm extremely curious.

I hope you are right ...I'm wrong cause they might be a W for the skins. I will be wrong any day for that.

The crowd goes crazy as RG3 seals the saints fate w a 21 point lead and three to play.. you'd think they were in Fed ex!
Youre exactly right Jim.. this kid is special and even Noleans can agree.. whata a show.
And he's just going to get better!
That's the scary part!

Skins smash em.. pumped up D vs a demoralized D losing a lot of its mojo.. a not so committed breezy vs a young phenomenon..

Skins win. And win BIG.

What changed? You named two things already... I think Ingram, Thomas and Sproles will play more of a role in that offense than everyone thinks. The NFC as a division is getting stronger and I don't think they can afford to have big shootout games like before. I see them managing the clock more by running the ball. Of course Brees will put up numbers, he is a great QB, I just have a feeling for the reasons above that it won't be the insane passing numbers like before.
