No big surprises on Redskins first depth chart
—Jammal Brown is still listed as the starter at right tackle even though he remains on the physically unable to perform list. Tyler Polumbus, who has been working with the first unit since reporting to cap, is on the second team at right tackle and Willie Smith is third.
—Yes, Robert Griffin III is listed as the starting QB with Rex Grossman second team followed by rookie Kirk Cousins. Griffin is the only rookie atop his position on the chart.
—The top three kick returners and punt returners are the same, with Brandon Banks, Aldrick Robinson, and Anthony Armstrong being listed 1-2-3 respectively.
—At safety, Tanard Jackson is on the third team at free safety behind Madieu Williams and DeJon Gomes

BB doin his job.. Royster Putin it on... And we are already better at safety with our starters last year our back ups!

Yeah, BB is the 5th or 6th WR right now and with Morgan sidelined that moves him up to #4 or #5 until Morgan is back.
Kind of surprised to see Hightower AND Royster ahead of Helu. If I had my druthers, HT would be a "break in case of emergency" back if he made the team at all. Royster would be your 1st, 2nd and short yardage back, while Helu would be the 3rd down and passing situation back. Hightower would get on the field only if Helu got hurt or proved that his improvement in pass pro late last season didn't carry over to this season.

I saw several surprises:
Leribeus & Smith 3rd string. That is not making the roster. Compton & Gettis both 2nd string.
On D, Wilson ahead of White & Kehl ahead of Robinson. That would have both White & Robinson not making the team.

Even after you highlighted Royster both times, I didn't realize I had typed Royster the second time instead of Helu. Oops!

What this really shows is Shanny is playing it close to the vest. The chart is mostly the incumbent at every position followed by the real order of the rest. I think Helu will out-touch and out-gain the other backs when it's all over.
Here's who I'd start as my base offense:
Williams, Hurt, Montgomery, Chester, Polumbus
Garçon, Moss, Hankerson
Davis
Helu
Griffin
This is a very fast team. Morgan would be my next guy in 4-WR sets. Drop Hank for Paul to get 2 TEs (or

ey for a fullback). Drop Moss for

ey for 3 TEs.
Niles Paul could be an incred sleeper if he gets a chance.

That
was a magic 8-ball you
gave me. It just disappeared.

Helu isn't starting because he can't pass-pro as good as Royster...
His superior running ain't worth getting RGIII knocked cold.

Superior running, over whom? Royster the leading rusher in Penn st history?? Surely u.must be joking?

It is arguable that Helu was the better runner for the REDSKINS last year. Penn State has zero relevance to his performance last year. Maybe Penn State should have taught him how to pass block.

I'm confused.. Helu isn't starting because Royster is the better pass blocker OR Penn st shoulda taught him how to pass block?
5.9 yards per carry with the REDSKINS.
I like both, don't hate cus I foresaw in my crystal ball Evan surpassing Helu at some point.. just happened to be sooner rather then later.

I got their collegiate careers confused.
