THE THN END OF SEASON AWARDS

I don't know if you do this already, I joined in January and didn't see anything similar so forgive me if I missed it.

This would be nice to do at the end of every season, whilst we have some down time until training camp let's do now what I should have done in February!

We've been looking forward for the last six months so take a moment and think back for a bit before voting. This is a Redskins thing so Redskins only in your responses please.

Voting ends on Thursday 12th July, winners announced that weekend.

PLAYER OF THE SEASON: Please vote for your overall Player of the Year for last season.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE SEASON: If you overall player of the season plays on offense then choose someone different here.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE SEASON: If your overall player of the season plays on defense then chose someone different here.

ROOKIE OF THE SEASON: If you chose a rookie in any of the above categories then repeat them here.

PLAY OF THE SEASON: Could be Helu's hurdle and run, Bank's pass for a TD, Kerrigans interception for a TD - anything that got you out of your seat or made you smile in a season of few smiles, you choose.

BEST INDIVIDUAL PERFORMANCE AGAINST THE REDSKINS: Which player in opposition was just too much for us to handle. For example, in 2010 this would have been a landslide to Vick.

Please give the category with the player (not just names on their own). Funny answers are fine if you want, but give me your real answers as well.

If you have any further suggestions for categories let me know (soon), but I've deliberately left out things like 'Worst moment of season' or 'worst player of season' as I want this to be a positive thing to reflect the direction we're going in.

I also don't want to have too many categories and put people off voting.

Thanks for your time guys.

We've never done anything like this, SLR, and I think it's a great idea. Thanks for putting it together. My votes:

PLAYER OF THE SEASON: London Fletcher

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE SEASON: Oof. Roy Helu?

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE SEASON: Ryan Kerrigan.

ROOKIE OF THE SEASON: Ryan Kerrigan.

PLAY OF THE SEASON: I'll take Helu's hurdle and run against Seattle. We could easily have lost that game, so a highlight run in one of our few gritty wins sticks in my memory.

BEST INDIVIDUAL PERFORMANCE AGAINST THE REDSKINS: Fred Jackson, Buffalo. He didn't score, but he kicked our butt.

I had forgotten about that one. But on reading this I had a flashback to Hall watching Gronkowski run away.

Time to suppress all of that again. -drinking

Precisely.

But before that, I was also there. Making it worse was I was in a fantasy matchup where my opponent had both Gronk and Moss. We know what Gronk did. Moss also caught a long TD from Banks and had his last TD in the waning seconds nullified by a horrible Offensive PI call. Brady also once missed a very open Gronk on a goaline play. Then there was the really obnoxious NE fan in front of me.

I ended up pubing someone in that fantasy matchup but would have gladly traded that win for a Moss TD, a two-point conversion, and a pubing of the Pats.

I think I'll join you.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE SEASON: Ryan Kerrigan

ROOKIE OF THE SEASON: Ryan Kerrigan

PLAY OF THE SEASON: Ryan Kerrigans interception and touchdown

BEST INDIVIDUAL PERFORMANCE AGAINST THE REDSKINS: Grondkowski

One player that I cannot put into any of the above categories, but he sure deserves some recognition, is Chris Neilds 1.5 sacks against the Giants in the last game. Not bad for a 7th round pick.

I think this is all culturally biased so I'm not voting.

Player of the season: Fletcher

Offensive player of the season: Davis

Defensive player of the season: Fletcher

Rookie of the season: Kerrigan

Play of the season: Helu v Seahawks

Player against the Redskins: Cam Newton - I remember not being able to stop him at all. 3rd and long was no problem for him in that game. Too many mistakes, but he was still impressive in his own right

PLAYER OF THE SEASON: Kerrigan (his level of play and consistency made me place him here)

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE SEASON: Fred (despite his smoking issue, he was the best player on the team)

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE SEASON: London (obvious)

ROOKIE OF THE SEASON: Kerrigan (obvious)

PLAY OF THE SEASON: Kerrigans pick 6 (i considered helu but Kerrigans ability to not only locate and catch the ball after batting it, says a lot)

BEST INDIVIDUAL PERFORMANCE AGAINST THE REDSKINS: Gronk (dudes a beast. he's the main reason I won my FF league. it was my first time too!)

I thought about it, but that's hard to give to anyone who misses a quarter of the season due to his own mistake. Then again, who else was really pushing him for this one?

Definitely a cool idea, good job SLR... I think we won't see a lot of variation but I might have a good point on O.

PLAYER OF THE SEASON: London Fletcher, leading in tackles, and still a beast of a great leader.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE SEASON: Evan Royster, not just cuz I named my son Evan, but: Fred Davis effed us hard w his failed drug tests so it was Helu or Royster. Helu saw more action had great games catching and running, but got hurt after only a couple games.. Roysters stats were onpar to be the best rookie, his ypc are the best we've seen from a rb in a loooooong time. Right?

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE SEASON: Ryan Kerrigan. Yup

ROOKIE OF THE SEASON: Ryan Kerrigan. Yup.

PLAY OF THE SEASON: tough one.. Helus run, BBs run returns or pass, or Kerrigans pick six... If any have a tie ill vote that way.

BEST INDIVIDUAL PERFORMANCE AGAINST THE REDSKINS: Pains me to even bring it up, but butthole bueler (sp) kicker for the pukes.. beat us without them scoring a single flippn TD in game One, then made two or three and one in ot for the second win. F him.

Yeah, there won't be a lot of variation and therefore it'll lack debate a little bit, which is another reason why I was a little slow doing it. I mean 3 or 4 of the categories are nailed on. But then I thought, well that's the case for this season, but if we have multiple candidates for each category next year then it's another way to mark our progress.

Next time I'm gonna add a 'Most Improved Player' category. The funny thing is with the turnover we've had we couldn't really have it this time round, know what I mean...? Who would you have? Davis or Reilly maybe but it's weak. Last season we had 11 rookies involved and a number of new recruits, only a handful featured in the previous season. It's a category that requires stability and we're evolving radically!

But at the risk of sounding like SJ, we're getting there!

I think a lot of the players on D improved through the year... Bowen, Carriker, Golston, Riley, and Wilson.

On O the whole O line improved especially with injuries and rookies but I truly think Trent stepped it up big.. he was owning d ware bit the suspension would take that award away. Same for Davis.
Basically I agree a lot of new faces and a lot of up and down play. I'd vote Riley on D and water boy on O... Oh wait I don't want to give Becksy a vote, umm.... BB. Saw the field a few times on offense put up a rushing td, aswell as passing. The first of course called back on some of that ol bs.

I think it's sad that someone who missed 1/4 of the season is even in consideration. Hankerson could have been a possibility if he hadn't been injured and continued down the path he was one. And lets not take too much credit away from Davis, he would be a BEAST if he was in NE.
