NFC East Already Scared of RGIII
It’s been over 20 years since teams and opposing fans were intimidated by the Washington Redskins. Unlike the 80′s and early 90′s, today’s Redskins have been nothing more than a dumpster fire on and off the field. That however, is about to change.
Since Washington traded up with St. Louis to land the number two overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, fans of opposing teams, especially the NFC East, have begun to change their minds about the Redskins. They now realize Washington, a team that has become more competitive since the arrival of Bruce Allen and Mike Shanahan, is about to exceed expectations, thanks to should-be draftee Heisman winning QB, Robert Griffin III.
Instead of a football team that has been known for its joke behind center – they (Redskins) now have a legitimate threat taking snaps. One that can burn you by tucking the ball in and running, such as Philadelphia Eagles QB, Michael Vick, but also kill you in the air, with the accuracy of Peyton Manning.
Rather than heading into the season with two-wins already in their book (vs. Washington), opposing teams and fans are now wondering what this means for their future. The team they are so used to defeating is now going to be able to challenge them.

Yeah, definitely an overstatement. The Skins have held up surprisingly well in divisional play over the last 5 or 6 years of mediocre play. We've swept NYG, Philly, and Dallas each in that time, and normally we split the games with at least two of those teams.
You can't ever count a division rival out, even the ones that do much worse than the Skins and finish with 2 or 3 wins every year will take one or two away from division rivals.

1. once I realized this article was written by a redskin fan blogger, I laughed.
2. no one has been "scared" of the redskins for well over 10 years, they're not all of a sudden going to be shaking in their boots because of some player who is not even on their roster yet, let alone proves himself to be more cam newton than akili smith. clearly, we know it's march in redskin land when "watch out for us" stories are being written by the fans. hahaha, funny. but as predicatable as the changing of the seasons. every march, different faces, same stories.
3. the redskins are 4-14 in against their division in their last 18 games......ooooooooooo.......they're sooooo scary........bwhahahaha. scary bad maybe.

A fun read, but that article is baseless and the title is completely misleading. It's just some blogger claiming that teams are scared of the Redskins without anything meaningful to back up his claims.

Well, as much as I would like to believe this.....I would put it under same general OPINION category as many other things I read....such as the article from the female sports reporter who, by the way, lives in Texas and may have a vested interest in teams within that state.
Was listening to NFL radio today....interesting conversation with the GM of the Rams....talking about how they were skewing younger now with Fisher as coach....but the thing that struck me as I think similiar thing will happen with the Redskins......GM said that with all the new acquisitions and changes in coaching staff, he is expecting the team to gel in second half of season, and for the young players to grow together in the second and third seasons to form a potent team. That is similiar to what I see happening with the Skins.....although coach remains the same, as do the O and D coordinators.....will take time for RGIII to get used to NFL and get used to his receiver corps. Would love for it to happen overnight, but that is not the norm.
Skin fans are still gonna have to be patient.....and that will be tough....

Man I love the Skins. But we're the fourth best team in the NFC East until we prove otherwise - no matter how many times we beat the Giants in a season.

We swept the Superbowl Champions last year...and still finished 4th. Until we do otherwise we are not a threat.

I'd be VERY surprised if any of the posters that I respect here, thought or gave any credence to the fact that the Redskins, by bringing in RGIII, might be putting any fear into the other 3 teams in the NFC East
This is a good division and the NFC East games each season are not normally one-sided - at least not recently
we're not taking anything for granted with this signing
it just means we'll proably have the best QB in the NFC East in a few years .... AND for many years to come
BIG DEAL - all that means is that we'll still have to find some other players to help him - he ain't winning it all by himself

I think its fair to say this will be one tough division next year, that's probably the perspective to look at it from.
Giants are champs, so obviously a good team.
Eagles have talent, must surely do better than last time.
Cowpats are good on their day, Carr was a good pick up, should be more of a force next season.
We're going to have something these three alrady have, a proper QB to invest in. That in itself will make us stronger, expected improvements elsewhere will also help.
The other teams are by no means fearful of us, but deep down I promise you they all wish we were the write-offs of past seasons so its a three horse race and not the four horse race it may well be next time.
The inter-divisional games will be the most competetive they've been for a few years.
Bring it on!!!
