With Goodell, you NEVER know....!!! We could get slapped with a tampering, inside-trading, type of PENALTY....

Holmgren: Browns made "every bit the offer" for RG3 pick
Browns President Mike Holmgren told season ticket holder on a conference call that his team made “every bit the offer” that the Redskins did in an effort to obtain the second overall pick in this year’s NFL draft. That pick is expected to be Heisman Trophy winning quarterback Robert Griffin III.

Last week the Redskins and Rams agreed on a deal that send the second pick to Washington. St. Louis got the Redskins first- and second-round picks in this draft and their first-round picks in the 2013 and 2014 drafts.

Holmgren did not specify what the Browns offered. He implied that the Rams agreed to deal with the Redskins due to the close friendship between Redskins coach Mike Shanahan and Rams coach Jeff Fisher.

"There are reasons it didn't happen,'' said Holmgren. "There's a very close relationship” involved with the teams that got the deal done.

"I'm not sure any offer was going to be good enough,” he added. “We were very aggressive and it didn't work.''

So. what? It's a business deal... those are made and fall through for all kinds of reasons... It's no different than a team refusing to deal with another in it's own division.

Nothing here... unless you have a need to worry about something... knock yerself out.

Guess Holmgren has to try to point the blame somewhere for his colossal failure in Cleveland. If Cleveland had made the better offer they would have gotten the pick. Pure and simple!

Wait...what? Goodell slapped us with "breaking rules" regarding the CAP and said rules don't even exist.

He may slap us again....!!!! hahaha

Typical whining from the Walrus (holmgren).

And Goodhell is such a POS, I wouldn't put anything past his worthless self.

Please! They may have made the same offer, but it was too late; the deal was done.

Who knows what offer they made, or if they even were seriously in on it. Holmgren is probably just trying to appease fans.

This could actually be exactly why.

You know how those Browns fans get. I actually think they like sucking. If anyone has ever been to Cleveland there isn't much there to be happy about.

I guess Shanny has some pull.

^^^^ this was the BEST part

Holmgren has surely benefited from his own friendships and relationships many more times than he has been burned by those maintained by others. The Godfather of what once was known loosely as the Green Bay Mafia (Jon Gruden perhaps was Luca Brasi), Holmgren knows how to call in favors and/or throw his weight around when he needs to.

He’s frustrated primarily because he wasn’t able to do it this time. He would have wise, in our view, to keep those frustrations to himself.

And with that I’ll officially withdraw my application for employment with the Cleveland Plain Dealer.
