Productive Offense in 2012

Ok, I know that free agency just started and that we're still a few weeks away from the draft, but I can't help but wonder how different this team will be will a more productive offense.

Regardless of who falls to us a #2 in the draft (which is pretty safe to assume RGIII) with the addition of the new WRs, and the production of last year's running back corp along with our TE's I can't help but start to get excited at the thought of this team actually being able to move the football, giving the defense some rest and maybe even... scoring TDs instead of field goals. [-o<

Despite our W-L record last year, we were in a lot of close games. Our defense played well, but with all the 3 and outs, turnovers etc. they'd get gassed early. How much impact will having a QB who can buy time, stretch a defense and scramble on a broken play affect both sides of the ball?

I know we still have some issues to address as far as depth in the O-line and although our D-line is now stacked (glad we resigned Carriker) I hope we can resign London and address our secondary.

I guess my point is that we've relied so heavily on our Defense for so long to win us ball games, what will it be like when we can have an Offense that's equally contributing? I can't wait to find out!

Hail Victory!!!

I see us having a very balanced team this year...

Running game, we have 3 very capable running backs, I see us running a successful 2 back system between Hightower and Helu, or Helu and Royster... either way, a good 2 pronged running attack

Passing game. Garcon, Morgan, Hankerson, and hopefully Royal. All young and productive WR's, I don't see 1 that will become that game changer, but rather a crew that allows us to evenly spread the ball around and keep defenders on their toes. I say we trade Moss and Gaffney, both good wideouts, but not for what we want out of our team anymore... lets get either some mid round draft picks for them, or trade for someone good for the o-line or defensive backfield

QB... need I say more. His mobility will make our o-line better, his passing will open up the run game, and the run game will open up the playaction pass... I see it being a wonderful thing.

Defensive front 7, now they are together for 1 full year, they get a full off season together. I see Orakpo and Kerrigan being possible the BEST defensive duo in football period this year. You add in Jenkins this year to that line, and oh boy is this going to be fun.

Now we just need to create depth in the o-line (they were above average BEFORE injury, far below average after) get a new right tackle, and we need some productive safeties and corners, and you will have a top 10 rank defense, top 10 rank offense THIS SEASON, you carry that over into the 2013 year, you will have a force the be reckoned with

Exactly! We've consistently have had a top defense for years with a losing record. The thought of a balanced team that has an offense who can spread the ball around, maintain better field position, let our D take a breather and/or play with a cushion every now and then? It's a beautiful thing.

So is Santana Moss on his way out?

I hope not. I think he'd shine in the slot. I wouldn't mind if we got Eddie Royal though as a receiver and punt returner. Banks was exciting at times but really only one dimensional and when the new kickoff rule went into effect he kinda lost that one dimension.

That would really hurt me personally bro, I really hope not.

With the addition of Morgan and Garcon, he can FINALLY get back to his slot position.

He's also the perfect person for management to reward and say hey look, we've changed our culture around here and we want to reward players.

I've seen a lot of this lately. Didn't Moss already shine in the slot last year? :hmm:

I feel the same way. I was kind of surprised to see some of these reports about possibly letting Moss go. He's been our only consistent receiver for years not including Cooley!

I'd like to see Gaffney stay, also. He had a good year and was a solid, reliable player. I think he'll outplay enough of the others to stay on the team.

We've made no moves yet on the online and will have a rookie behind center (at some point). We have no idea what our offense will be like, way too early to say.

Morgan has never been particularly productive and Royal has been a no show lately and no better than average most of his career.
