Cowboys lose $10 million in cap space, Redskins lose $36 million in space. Can split it over 2012 and 2013 any way they want. More at ESPN.

$36 million? Wow. Just wow.

I would think the majority of that was the Haynesworth bonus...

HOLY
How can they legally do this? If it was an uncapped year, why couldn't we do what we wanted with our salaries?
My guess would be that they save most of that 36 million hit for next season.

Wow!! This is what you get for being smarter than the rest of the NFL???

Well, if you look at it. If we split it 50/50 between the next two seasons, that's 18 million.
We are supposedly about 40 million under the cap, so that still leaves us with over 20 million dollars to spend.
Plus, we could cut more players to make more room before tomorrow @ 4PM

This would have been nice to know before we made the big trade. No we have no draft picks or salary cap space.
Also we just released Mike Sellers

We can split it up between two seasons, it's not all gloom and doom yet.

Also, players might restructure their deals.

That's all true, but we suddenly lost a lot of maneuvering room

If I'm Snyder, my legal team is already preparing an appeal. This is absolute BS!!
We got totally screwed by Fat Albert. Finally get to trade up for a Franchise QB, and Goodell and his goons do this?
The purpose of the uncapped year was so that teams could spend what they want. So why punish them retroactively??

Wow that sucks. I don't understand why we're being punished for this. How was this "cheating"?

And we didn't even go crazy last year.. in actuality don't we have more roll over + the cap space totaling ~80 million?

From Pro football Talk:
[T]he NFL instructed teams not to use the uncapped years as a way to dump money in order to ensure that cap numbers in years with a salary cap would be lower.
If the NFL did in fact let teams know about this then we have the most incompetent front office in the entire league.

WTF. All of these moves were APPROVED by the NFL! We sent modified contacts to the NFL, they approved them, and NOW the moves aren't OK!

That is why they had to send contracts to the league for approval! They signed off on then do they were OK with the NFL at one time.

Andrew Brandt reporting it was the Haynesworth and Hall contracts that resulted in the penalty.

HOPEFULLY - IF this is true, Snyder will fire the FO and bring in somebody that knows how to manage this franchise
OR
bring back Cerrato
