RG3...the plot thickens

The fun never stops around here.....
Report: Mystery team feeling out Rams, RGIII SI.com's Peter King confirms the Rams have already received a trade "feeler" for the No. 2 pick from a team "you would never expect."
Let the intrigue begin. Our initial guesses are the Chiefs, Eagles, Broncos, and perhaps the Jets. Chiefs coach Romeo Crennel and GM Scott Pioli were blown away by RGIII over the weekend. Griffin told King he "really enjoyed" his time with Andy Reid, and the Eagles have a pair of second-rounders in addition to Asante Samuel and DeSean Jackson to dangle in front of St. Louis. Regardless, the Browns and Redskins remain the heavy favorites to land RGIII.

If Shanny tells "the Danny" that he wants him, then RGIII will be in B&G

Can they trade cash as well as picks and players?

Nope. Just players and picks. That's all.

I'm hearing the surprise team could be Seattle. Tim Kirwin who's REALLY good friends with Pete Carrol hinted at them today. Just sayin....

We can sign FA we have or don't as trade bait to make it cheaper for them tho right?

We can sign a guy who was on our team only right now until FA opens which is in a few weeks but keep in mind that any signing bonus would be owed by us.

Right.. Making it cheaper for st Louis if we traded hightower.. I mean someone we resigned vs them signing them in FA?

Hightower is a FA who will get guaranteed money. Look at the Pitt situation. Their RB went out the end of the year with an ACL. Hightower is ready to go and play now (he says) and was very productive in there. The current slotted RB in Pitt is Redman..(WHO?)

I no I hear ya.. I'm asking if we could (would) sign a FA like hightower and use him in a trade scenario to st Louis. If we resigned him then traded him itd save them money like signing bonus etc? They could use him I think spelling Jackson.
Not saying I'm all for it just curious. We have a few good players hitting FA is all I'm curious about. Would it make sense to sign someone they could use then trade em?

I am slowly getting on the RG3 bandwagon. But, we will not be successful with him unless the following happen.

1) We pick up a good WR or 2 in FA
2) We build on our Offensive line, both starters and backups
3) We resign both Davis and Cooley
4) We have a stout running game... Hightower and Helu 2 back system, Royster as the 3rd back, and maybe special teams?
5) We continue to build the defense, drop landry and hall, and pickup some new talent that can play consistently, and give us good field position / keep points off the board.

IF we can achieve those things, then I think the price could be worth it. remember what we are giving away... We are essentially trading Kerrigan, Orakpo, Davis, Helu, and Hankerson for 1 player, to look at it in a different way

#3- I was pretty adament about keeping Cooley but as of today, if we can get some value for him I say pull the trigger

#5- Gotta keep Hall bro; I understand why you said get rid of him for new talent but their isn't really any free agents that jump out at me and even new young guys would benefit from being under him (NOT SAYING HE'S THE ANSWER!)

Way to hand pick some guys. Here's another way to look at it.

Carlos Rodgers
Jason Campbell
Malcolm Kelley
Chad Rinehart
and Dennis Morris

for RGIII

I believe that, but this doesn't really strike me as "a team you would never expect". The Seahawks are one of the four or five teams who are always mentioned this year as seriously in the market for a QB.

If I had to put money on it, I'd say Philadelphia put out the feelers. Vick is 32 and injuries are always an issue with him. It fits their M.O. to start bringing in younger guys around that time. They don't have a ton of other holes to fill. And with Kolb gone, what is their plan beyond Vick?

I think keeping Cooley is a great idea, I don't think you can argue that if you combine the last 6 years, he has been the best player to play on the team. If Shanny can make a 2 TE set work, which I think he easily can, why wouldn't we keep 2 amazing receiving Tight End's and exploit that strength of our team? A healthy Cooley is a force to be reckoned with (the way he destroys people after the catch and shrugs off tacklers is impressive to say the least) If you ask me, Cooley and Davis are the 2 best receivers on our team currently. Imagine when you add in a solid game changing wideout as #1, Hankerson (if he becomes productive) as our #2, and put Moss in the slot... that is 5 very VERY dangerous weapons for a good QB (like RGIII) to go to.

Add to that the RB tandem of Hightower and Helu, and if we take care of some O-Line issues, we really do have a top rated offense. 5 viable options to throw the ball to, 2 viable backs to split runs, a QB that can thread the needle, and buy time when needed, or run the ball for some extra yards.

Ask the Giants if they'd exchange their two superbowls for the players they missed out on...

I'm not saying we'll win SB's or even be successful. But at some point, as BossHog would put it. U either gotta s*** or get off of the pot. IMO, I see a prairie dog and it's ready to reveal itself.

I think the Redskins are playing this out perfectly. We are frontrunners in this sprint to get RG3 but I think we will eventually back off.

I see Tannehill as our guy. He's 6'4 has a monster arm and is athletic. If everything plays out like I think it will, we will trade down and grab him along with a solid WR.

I like RG3 just as much as the next guy but it does not make much sense to trade so much for him. What DOES make sense is to make everyone think we are going after him...

I'm with you man. Keep Hall, but bring in some new talent to compete. He's not the best CB in the league, but he's nowhere near as some fans seem to think.

7 rounds in a draft, the Skins drafted 12. Out of those 12 picks, 11 were on the active roster. Jarvis (arguably the best pick) is that one person but he'll be on the active roster next year. So that's 5 additional players on this team who are contributing. Hankerson who we stole and is valued higher than where we took him.

So U could look at it as, the Skins are ahead of the draft curve and can afford to put some in this package without TRULY circumventing their goals of building through the draft...

Not that it matters, because Shannahan didn't interview Cutler before he traded up for him with the Broncos, but Seattle didn't interview RGIII at the combine. Eagles, Skins, Vikings, Chiefs, Browns, Dolphins, and the 49ers are the teams that I know interviewed him, but the Hawks did not fo sho.
