ESPN removes Jaworski from Monday Night booth
ESPN issued a press release on Wednesday entitled: “Ron Jaworski signs five-year extension for new, expanded multiplatform analyst role.”
They buried the lede.
Jaworski’s expanded role won’t include the job he’s most famous for: Monday Night Football. ESPN is moving to a two-man booth in 2012: Jon Gruden and Mike Tirico.

Good. Simply good. Would rather listen to the stadium announcer than Jaws. Enough already.

Is there a single NFL color guy that's worth listening to? The state of NFL media really depresses me sometimes.

As much as I hate to say it, I think aikman is pretty good at what he does.

I don't know if you remember this because you're younger then me, but the NFL tried a stupid trick once where they had a few games broadcast with no announcers to show how much we want to have them. Of course it worked, everyone was like that sucked.
So, because we don't like having no announcers, we want incessant chatter. I always thought maybe, just maybe, there is some room in the middle there. Maybe it's just me...

He used to be. I think Joe Buck must have worn off on him, because now he's hard to listen to.

as much as I hate to say it - I agree with you
Aikman has lost a lot of what made him good as an analyst - not sure if Buck got to him but he's nowhere near what he used to be
I also think that FFA hits on a good point - the current crop of analysts make watching the games V frustrating at times

I agree. Several years ago I enjoyed listening to him. I think FOX producers have also had an impact on him. He seems to try harder to get the sound byte in more than anything else.

I've always liked the guys who do the Caps games, but of course they are incredibly biased in Washington's favor, so that's fun to listen to.
I don't watch much baseball or basketball for comparison, but I do watch a fair amount of Premier League soccer and international/domestic rugby, and those sports have more than a few great announcers between them. In general, their style is more sparse; they'll say something if they have something to say. What a revolutionary idea!
