Saw on twitter that the Skins will be using their franchise tag on Fred Davis. Makes total sense to me. Costs will not be too high based on the level of talent the guy has. Just hope he's put the weed down for good.

I am not sure I want him back. I woud ONLY welcome him back if he has realised that he has a gift and a golden opportunity in the NFL and he could waste it entirely due to an addiction.

He is a good player but those who are caught breaking the rules cannot help their team on the field if they are suspended and instead ruin the moral in the locker room.

We actually NEED him back IMO. ey has been injury prone for a little while now and in this league, its looking like big TEs are the key.. granted, not for the giants but you all know what I mean.

+1 We have enough holes to fill and don't need to be creating any more.

This may be an indication that they don't want Davis back.

I know that seems counterintuitive, but maybe they don't want him. However they realize he has value and could be looking to let the market set his value. If they think that value is too high they can trade him to the team that wants him.

Possibly. But what kind of value can the Skins expect for a guy that ended the season suspended and is one mistake away from being suspended for an entire season? As an example, the Steelers got a 5th rounder in exchange for Santonio Holmes when they traded him to the Jets.

This is tricky. The Redskins have to know that whoever the QB is, he can't "Throw the F**ng Ball and catch it too." Gisele was right. It was TE Grownkoski that killed the Redskins this year. With him hurt in the Super Bowl they had to go with older players who are no longer in their prime. They dropped the ball. The Pats have no running game. When the best receiving tight end went down, so did their chances of winning the Super Bowl. The Redskins need to upgrade the main wide receiver position and not rely on some guy who might get suspended.

I love Fred Davis, and I'm glad we're working to keep him a Redskin. The guy is one of the few legitimate studs we have on this team.

Testing for marijuana use in pro football players is a freaking joke. I highly doubt that Fred is an "addict", and I don't think he's a bad guy for it. Unfortunately though, these are the rules. Let's hope he learned from what happened this season and doesn't put his career at risk again.

If he fouls up again then he's beyond stupid. We need to use our picks and trades on other key positions, TE isn't one of those positions with Davis and ey in support, and you can't say that about any other position other than maybe Linebacker and possibly RB.

You do realize that the suspension tells us that this is not the first time that he tested positive, right? Clearly, Fred and Trent are demonstrating that they are not the sharpest blades in the box. They are now working on their 3rd chance....

I love Fred Davis, the BEAST Tight End, as well... I agree that testing for MJ is stupid...

Neither point is worth a gram of beetle dung... the fact is, Fred Davis, the citizen/team mate, is an irresponsible bonehead, and the NFL DOES test for canabinoids... and has, according to current law, every right to.

None the less, his level of talent DEMANDS that we keep him... for now...

I don't know, if Mr. Bundchen throws a decent pass to Welker, they win that game. Or if he doesn't the ball way behind Branch on the last drive, then maybe they don't have to go for the hail mary at the end!

The throw to Welker was much more a bad pass than a drop. The crossing route to Branch was 100% on Brady.

How many of those "failed" tests were THIS year. How long in between? Seems they were tested before they were told they were gonna be then failed more w residules. No guarantee but he didnt fail multiple tests every year.

Addicted to dope??? just because someone faisl a drug test doesn't mean he's a ddicted to dope. I like to have a few more scotchs than I should every once in a while. I don't think that makes me an alcoholic. Legalize it and have the govenrment tax the crap out of it like they do cigarettes here in NY and you would have the deficit problem solved in no time.

Let's stop the hypocrisy and double standards. Making it illegal only fuels billions of dollars to the worst criminal elements around the world.

BUT if the LAW is the LAW and the NFL has rules, a player MUST abide by them when he joins that overpaid and exclusive "club". People would lose their jobs very quickly in several other professional fields if they are caught working under the influence.

I agree that it should be taxed but I will remind you guys of this risk vis-a-vis not only ONE player missing an entire season because you feel that he is a good player and that in itself justifies overlooking the need for fighting against his addiction (and Trent's too, by the way).

I could care less about what people do in their private lives AS LONG AS it does not impact in their professional lives. Then it affects OTHERS and in this case the entire team.

I agree with everything you've written here, but you're wildly off base and kind of insulting in claiming that Williams and Davis have addictions. Here is the dictionary definition of addiction:

the state of being enslaved to a habit or practice or to something that is psychologically or physically habit-forming, as narcotics, to such an extent that its cessation causes severe trauma.

These guys are addicted to marijuana like I am addicted to Oreos.
