Which QB option should the Redskins pursue?

With all of these choices out there, and a topic dedicated to pretty much each one, lets gather all of this information into 1 location and put it to a vote. Which QB option to the skins pursue, and then post why you believe that.

I personally went the Tannehill route. We can trade down later into the 1st round and pick up additional picks. We should spend our free agency and draft around solidifying the offensive line and building up our WR core, top priority there, and tightening up our defense in a few positions (mainly backfield, and some depth up front)

Lets finish creating a young and talented team in every other position (we arent far off from that honestly) and put in a QB like Tannehill, which is very talented, and with talent around him on offense, and a defense that keeps the opposing score down and gives him good field position, he can thrive, make great decisions, and safely insert himself into the team and be effective immediatly.

What we should end up with, is a winning record this upcoming season, which hopefully will, but won't necissarily get us in the playoffs, and then by Shanahans 4th season, everyone is really meshing well together with the consistency in place, familiarity with each other, and our future draft and free agency periods can focus on 1 off needs and depth, not massive rebuilds.

I predict if we do that, by Shanahan year 5, we are minimum in the NFC championship, if not back into the superbowl, with a sustainable team that can be competitive year in and year out, even if we eventually swap coaches again for any reason... the talent will be there.

I said sign Matt Flynn but that's only because it's part of what I would do. I'd sign Flynn and then draft Tannehill in the 2nd if he's still there. If not, I would wait and draft another QB later as a back up. Someone to sit behind the 4-6 yr contract I'd have to give Flynn.

I would also add my least favorite option is to trade up for RG3, it just gives me that bad taste in my mouth of the redskins of old.

Lets trade 4-5 potential solid players worth of draft picks over the next 2 years, and bet it all on 1 QB hoping he will fix the franchise instantly.

Every other option out there presents less overall risk to the team, and some varying degree of potential success for our team as a whole.

I picked the last option of keeping Rex/Beck.

Do I really want that? Absolutely not but I just wanted to mess up the numbers.

I'd take Randy Schroeder personally but he wasn't an option.

RGIII. It's the only chance this team has of succeeding in the near future, unless Shanny plans to throw the 12-13 season in order to get the #1 pick for Barkley.

Do you really believe that we have to have a #1 pick QB to be able to win, or do you say that because you think RG3 fits the team well?

We have taken big name QB's in past drafts and spent a lot to get them, and come up with nothing in return. I think it's time to try something different in our franchise.

Really hard question to answer, because there are so many "ifs" involved. I'd kind of like to see the team pursue RGIII IF the price to move up to get him isn't too high. Its just a big "if".

I would give up next year's first round pick to get RGIII, but not multiple first rounders.

I believe that tjey need a FRANCHISE QB in order to be able to win. I also believe they need a FRANCHISE QB in order to make free agents believe they're serious enough about winning to even consider coming to DC to play. From what little I've seen of him, RGIII appears to have the skills and talent to come in and be a productive player almost immediately.

There are no guarantees in the Draft, but you're not going to find a FRANCHISE QB out on the Free Agent market. The only other way to do it is to find a SYSTEM that doesn't require the QB to do much of anything.... like New England's SYSTEM. I don't think Kyle Shannahan's system works that way, though.

He throws a REAALLL pretty ball.

Is he Jay's son?

Voted for Peyton, because:

- want no part of Flynn
- want no part of Rex
- trading up to get RGIII maybe too expensive
- can't take Tannehille at #6 (but would be OK with trading down to get him)

The last time that we took a big name qb was Heath Shuler in 1994. Since then, we've being going with retreads and never-has-been's, or going after mediocre prospects like Campbell. Making a move to get RGIII would be doing something different.

interesting that sign Kyle Orton was not one of the choices. A lot of chatter from the talking heads this weekend that Orton was on the Skins' radar...

I think Orton only makes sense if you draft a QB other than Luck or RG3, and need a veteran to play while the young guy learns. Of course, they could do that if they resigned Grossman also...

Yeah I've heard Orton's name mentioned a lot in the past few days as well. I guess they have to at least consider him.

I agree 100%. We have never moved up to get an elite QB. We took Heath in a very poor QB class, a lot higher than he should have been taken. Even at that time, SHuler and Dilfer had serious cons to their games with out the Pros that RGIII has.

Campbell was a second round QB we traded up into the first round because Gibbs fell in love with him and was worried he wouldn't slide to us in the second round.

Going after a QB that could legitimately be the first overall pick in many drafts (including maybe this year) is something different and is not more of the same.

Didn't vote because there was no "any combination of the above" option. I don't think these choices are mutually exclusive. We could sign a free agent QB AND move up to draft a qb, or get Tannehill or someone in the 2nd.

I like the idea of grabbing Manning and trading the #6 for more picks, including grabbing a QB like Tannehill. Manning is going to be very low risk financially. He said that he would work his contract so that the bulk of $$ is incentive/performance based. If he can't physically play, he will be very cheap. If he can play, he can groom that new QB and instantly put us in playoff contention.

RG3 by any means necessary.

RG3. Whatever it takes. Manning wouldn't last long behind our line, if he can ever even play near his old level again. I have no desire for Green Bay's retread. Tannyhill has some potential to be an average NFL QB. You've got to be kidding about Rex and Beck. I'll punt my NFL ticket if I have to watch another year of quarterback play like this years.

let's reach back to our last Super Bowl team and get Mark Rypien's daughter at QB; she is playing QB in the Lingerie Football League.

well said. couldn't agree more. it's time to shoot for the moon instead of trying to make do at the most important position on the field.

It's not an "option"

The Redskins ARE GOING TO - bring in a FA QB .... AND then .... pick up a QB in the draft
