Well, "everyone" wants to leave DC, so I say let LL walk.

He can't walk or run. Did everybody see Carlos Rogers drop the interception at the end of the game that would have won the game for San Fran? I guess his contacts must have fallen out.

Just reached LaRon Landry via phone. Says he hasn't made a decision on surgery yet. He's waiting to see how Achilles responds to treatment.

The longer he delays, the less likely it is that we will see much of him on the field...

Did you guys notice his Safety blew the play up? He was right there to catch the pass and the guy took everyone out. Golston killed it for them. Can't blame Rogers on that.

Must be thinking of a different Play, because the one I saw the ball was right in his hands and he just dropped it. It was in the last two minutes of the game.

See you later LL. Cut bait with this guy and chalk it up to another early 1st round bust of a pick.

This staff will ONLY keep the players that will do WHATEVER it takes to be a better player PLUS help the other players around them
Laron Landry IS one of those players

I can understand his reluctance. I wish he would get it fixed but I understand.

If LL is one of those players he would suck it up and go under the knife.

So he's doing the same thing he did last year. How did that work out?
He needs to get cut from the team and with a knife in surgery. He's done as a full time football player.

Against the Giants, however, the 49ers squandered their chances for takeaways.
One sure interception in the second half was undone when safety
Dashon Goldson and cornerback Tarell Brown collided, leaving nether man with the ball and Brown with a head injury that caused him to leave the game.
From that point, the 49ers' top cornerbacks were veteran Carlos Rogers, rookie Chris Culliver and seldom-used Tramaine Brock.
A near replay of that missed chance occurred in overtime when Goldson and Rogers ran into each other trying to intercept another floating pass from Manning.

Rogers played extremely well. Hate 'em though. He's the enemy now.

Did you watch the game? Rogers didn't play extremely well--he started off disastrous and was playing not-terribly toward the end (about when the 49ers pass rush got through). Victor Cruz was generally too quick for him, but he's been generally too quick for everybody who's tried to cover him this year, and Rogers doesn't have the same awareness that guys like Revis and Asomugha have to block receivers out of their routes without drawing flags.
Re: Landry, it's his ankle, his career and he can do what he likes with both. He's never had the discipline to cover or tackle and straight line speed and big hits just mean he's about 60 pounds too light to be a pass rush specialist. Even if he were healthy he wouldn't deserve a top contract, so if he wants to roll on, let somebody else pick up the tab. The Skins have gone without even average safety play for way, way way too long and Landry has been at least as much problem as solution.

I'd say Rogers was better than "not terrible" by the end. The 9ers in general made some good half-time adjustments on defense, and I thought Rogers played particularly well in the second half.

Yep.
Paralis wrote:Rogers didn't play extremely well--he started off disastrous
Nope.
The Giants first posession lasted 9 plays. They threw 5 times. They targeted Rogers with 3 of those passes. They completed 1 - a 12 yarder to Cruz. Of the 2 incompetes 1 was a pass defensed by Rogers covering Cruz. The other incomplete was tightly covered against Manningham.
Paralis wrote:and was playing not-terribly toward the end (about when the 49ers pass rush got through).
Extremely well by then.
Paralis wrote:Victor Cruz was generally too quick for him,
He had a good game. He caught 10 for 142. It would be easy to say "See, he torched Rogers." Hardly true. The Giants have a top-5 WR corps. Rogers covered them all - not just Cruz. Manning was 32 of 58. He targeted Rogers a total of 13 times completing 6 - less than 50%. They were 26 of 45 otherwise - 59%. Rogers defensed 3 passes - one in the end zone. Cruz beat him for 36 yards once. Rogers missed deflecting it by a few inches. Rogers made 11 tackles - 5 in the run game.
Paralis wrote:but he's been generally too quick for everybody who's tried to cover him this year,
Absolutely true.
Paralis wrote:and Rogers doesn't have the same awareness that guys like Revis and Asomugha have to block receivers out of their routes without drawing flags.
I guess he's around the 3rd best in the league then - and he played like it - extremely well. I'm sure there were at least some plays where Manning looked Rogers way, saw nothing available, and moved on. I saw a few "coverage sacks" for sure.

I absolutely agree. I like him but only at times. He has more highlights, both positive and negative, than consistent play.

Quite frankly, this guy never turned out to be the type of safety anyone envisioned. At this point in Landry's career, he's still "raw talent". I think ,he,more than anyone on this team was affected by Taylor's death. Thats speaking about a professional standpoint, Im sure others were affected more personally. He doesnt have the head or the heart, sure he has the body. Without the other 2, it aint worth the kind of money he wants.
Fact is, with the new rules regarding helmet to helmet contact and defenseless recievers, he's a liability in coverage. More so now than he ever was. And thats not considering his health into it. 2 guys playing un-disciplined football in the secondary is too much to overcome.
If the guy put on 20 to 30 pounds and tried the LB position maybe its better for his career, I dont know.
Maybe St.Louis wants him at safety,
Washington is a bad fit. So long Laron.

I habe to disagree... Had he been played in the proper position w adequate help his whole career probably be more natural. There is a reason he is a SS.. Having Reed at SS and LL at FS was a horrible idea and it showed. Injury free LL and OJ can form one of the best Safety duos in the league imo. LLs aggressive play is contagious.. And pumps up the fans so I'd imagine team mates too.
I'm not worried about the new rules.. Hell Riley got fined more then anyone didn't he? I'm sure London and the coaches can help these guys learn how to use the hit stick legally.
Speaking of the all mighty Fletcher- some people take him and LL getting into it as a "sign". I saw it more like the teacher getting after his prized student. They both bring the intensity a great D needs so I can't imagine they aren't close in and out of work.
Maybe I'm wrong, there's a first for every thing... Lmao but I like dirty 30 a lot! Daahum idk guess we wait and see.
No denyin doode is a Beast and hates the pukes as much as the fans.. Players like him London and

ey etc teach the other team mates to bleed B&G.. That whole family thing that was mentioned.
I don't see him in the same category as a C'los who hated it here w a passion..

I actually agree with alot of what you have to say cowboykillerzRED. I think alot of the instability of this franchise has hurt the development of Landry. Moving him to FS was bad, but at the time it was the best option, we were hemmorhaging draft picks and blowing cap space on other positions. Not his fault.
Riley may have been the most fined player but, Riley is 2nd year pro and a first year starter, actually half a season. I expect growing pains there. If he's still doing that going into his 6th season, you might wana take a look at letting him go then too.
Aside from the fines, the penalties are 15 yds and 1st down, thats where the team gets hurt. Just one of those can cost you a game, just like Fletcher's hit on Brady. Not illegal but, its left to the refs to decide. The league's instruction to the refs "If you have a doubt, throw the flag". When you have a player with the nickname "dirty 30" that celebrates big hits after the opposing team gets a first down? Its going to attract the attention of the refs. Probably the other team too, in a bad way.
And still, he's going into his 6th year and he's still a "raw" talent. Don't get me wrong, I love the intensity too. But, when that intensity controls your decision making process, it's a liability. At this point in his career, he should be a mentor to the younger guys , not playing like one.
As far as him being a Burgundy and Gold guy, Im not so sure. I know he hates the Cowboys and we need more of that here too. I think if he had any intention of staying, he would have gotten the surgery months ago. Instead he decided to heal the tendon rather than address the cause of the problem which are the "barbs" on the bone that are snagging the tendon. This will allow him to work out and get through his physical evaluations and get signed elsewhere. Its kinda like putting new tires on a car that needs an alignment. Maybe the Skins didnt show him the commitment he wanted to see, who knows. Now he has said he would agree to a 1 year deal and negotiate for the bucks next year. IMO the terms of that 1 year deal will show how much of a Burgundy and Gold guy he is.
I dont want to call the guy a lost cause, I've met him personally and he pretty much crushed any notion I ever had of stepping onto a practice field with pro ball players. I'm 6'1'' and 210lbs played safety and LB in high school. He makes me look like a high school kid standing next to him. Of course Im over 40 too, but a guy can still think he can play, cant he? lol
The point is, we've waited long enough for Landry to mature and develop and I dont think hes going to be satisfied with any contract this organization can offer based on his inconsistant performace to date.
