RGIII

In the NFL you can excel as a pocket passer because of accurate passing. If you are athletic and can avoid tackles in the pocket to evade pressure than it can buy the receivers extra time to get open. When athletic "running" quarterbacks play in the NFL they usually do not have the accuracy of pocket passers which is why these running quarterbacks dont usually win superbowls ex: Vick, McNabb, Cunningham, Flutie. If you watch Griffin, he has amazing accuracy while on the run, better than most NFL quarterbacks. Griffins running is what makes him scary, but he is more of a running quarterback who shows him arm rather than a passing quarterback who runs to show another ability if you can see what i am saying. my point is that we would be out of our minds if we do not take this sure-fjre signal caller for whatever lucky franchise drafts him. We must do whatever it takes. No absurd trades included.

OR "We should pay any price no matter what, unless it is too high!"

Hopefully we will be sitting at #5 and we will just need to skip over Cleveland to get to #3 to take RG3. Or even better we would be able to sit tight and pick RG3 but I don't see that happening, but there is plenty of time between now and Aprill.

It is retarded how much movement there is in draft boards between now and April. Remember this time last year where Gabbert seamed like the #1 pick and then Cam (or vice versa) and then Cam was predicted #1 and Gabbert would be gone by #10.

This is going to be a crazy four months!

I'm praying we get RG3! Call me crazy, but I like him over Luck.

I'd be happy with Griffin but I'd be ecstatic about getting Andrew Luck

both will be good QBs - there's no doubt that Andrew Luck will cost a lot more than Griffin

RG3 would be a huge upgrade over our current QB situation. That being said, I'm not sure he'll be there when we pick---even if we lose this week and wind up picking 4th. I think a team ahead of us takes him, the pick is traded, or a team drafts him on a subsequent trade agreement, ala Eli~Rivers. Shanahan has to be on pins and needles though. Not only is Grossman not good enough, he's only getting older, and Shanahan is to. A move might have to be made this year. Whether that's in the first round, or second round, only time will tell.

Maybe a guy like Brandon Weeden or Ryan Tannenhill is available if we trade back and pick up another 2 and pick later in the 1st. I've been ready for the draft since we lost to the Cowboys the second time.

Dalton has become one of the best QBs out of this year's Draft. He was drafted 35 in the second round. He has the Bungles at a better position fighting for a playoff spot than Carson Palmer would have. I am sure there is a winner after Luck and RG III. Just do not ask me who ... yet.

(I'm pretending that the "who should we draft at QB?" question is not floating overhead, because the last time I worried through the off-season until the draft, the team got the sure-fire, all-time great, can't-miss Heath Shuler. But, yes, RG3 looks like he will be a good one.)

Did you see where Phil Simms is not sold on Andrew Luck. I kinda feel the same way, not buying all the Luck hype. RG3 is the real deal!

This is what I want from our staff. Pick a guy that you want, a guy that you truly want. A guy that you feel will be the "the guy" for 10-12 years and go get him. That's it. Get him.

Clarify. In part, are you saying "Don't cave to fans/Snyder/etc.?" Or, "Don't settle for a guy just because he's the best QB left?"

I agree Chris - I know I sound like a broken record sometimes (maybe more) - this FO has learned from their mistakes

Luck, and Griffin III to a slightly less extent, will be very good to great for many years

If Phil Simms isn't sold on him that means he is going to be an all-time great haha. Simms is a clown.

ANY player coming out of college is a risk - there are so many factors that can hinder their growth

IF this FO can bring in Luck or Griffin III, I really hope they make sure that he's properly handled and prepared
This franchise has not done very well lately with their evaluations of some players they've brought in - ESPECIALLY QBs

Agree. If Simms is so great, why can't his QB sons figure out which color jerseys to throw to?

I think the only player that MS and BA totally wiffed on was McNabb. People look at Rex and Beck as QB failure 2 and 3 (or 3 and 4 if you count JC) but that isn't how I look at them and I don't think it is how MS looked at them.

The word out going into this past draft was if Jake Locker was available at 10 Shanny would have taken him or if Dalton was available in the second round they would have taken him. Neither were available and MS figured Rex or Beck would be as good as what ever else would have been available.

Can you make an arguement that that was wrong? Maybe. But MS certainly didn't go into the season with Rex and Beck as his long term plans for the future. As the old Ball Coach would put it, "they were cheep and available!"

By just going with Rex this year he was able to address many other needs so that when he got the QB he wants the team would be better around that player.

So I only count McNabb against MS and even though they traded for McNabb they still explored trading up to get Bradford, indicating he new #5 wasn't his long term answer.

I don't think MS has selected and whiffed on a long term answer at QB yet, mosted because he really hasn't had the chance to get a long term fix at QB. If he goes through this draft and doesn't find his guy this year, then he might as well quit, because he will be fired at the end of the 2012 season if he doesn't draft a QB (and doesn't draft the right one).

The McNabb 'deal' was a bad mistake - we had to do something but ....

The mistake regarding Grossman and Beck was only in thinking that we would be able to get by with these 2 QBs
they are horrible - Grossman MAY be worth keeping to help with the QBs that are coming in
THAT is ONLY because 'Kyle's offense is complicated' - more BS in my opinion

I'm glad we did not just bring in a young QB but we are in trouble now because we did not prepare for this

this FO better have a plan for the QB position here - for both next season and beyond OR they will NOT be here in 2013

Both actually.

It's obvious that fans don't know what they want and Dan being a self-Proclaimed fan doesn;t have a clue. Let the football minds make their decisions.

And yes, don't settle for crap cus he's the only guy left. If none of the QB's that you want are left, don't reach and grab someone too high just to appease the mass of idiots. They're gonna rip u apart regardless of what you do and want to be your best friend if it works out.

What I like about Mike is that he's gonna flip you the bird and do what he feels is best. Thats what we needed here and now everyone wants to jump ship. Fans are fickle and really, get over this whole crap about the franchise sucking for 20 years and we're impatient (not u specifically). Get over it. Stop crying and let the man work. So many people on here and in the local media don't even realize that they are Daniel Snyder (queue "I am Tiger Woods" commercial). All of the impatience that he was loathed for, that people want him gone for, so many of those detractors harbor those traits.

+1 - I don't like Mike as a person but I do think that he has earned another season here as HC & in the FO

he will continue to do what he thinks is right and will not (& has not) bowed to pressure from anyone - including Snyder

The Shanaplan is his and he trusts that it will help this franchise

Mike & Bruce get another year - they know what this franchise needs to achieve in order for them to be here in 2013

this franchise's #1 priority is to have a good QB - if they can't get Luck, hopefully they like & bring in R Griffin III

Brilliantly stated, Chris... If MS is true to his pattern of last year, he's not taking a QB just to take a QB. He will not waste a high pick on a player that he doesn't think will be his starter.

More importantly, they will rip you apart for doing exactly the thing they were calling for just months earlier. We've seen that happen so many times in DC — almost all of of the major QB switches of the last decade are good examples. Using personnel moves to appease fans is a fool's errand. Do the right thing and let them complain. Once we are winning the same fans will pretend they knew all along it was the right call.

Agreed. And conversely, Shanny will take a QB who he thinks will start. And in my mind that means Luck and maybe RG III.

This team needs playmakers. RGIII is a playmaker (see TCU, Oklahoma, etc.). Whatever it takes, go get him. There are other "solid" quarterbacks in this draft. There are very few other playmakers that elevate everyone around them. I see us instantly 4 games better with that addition alone.
