For the religious people in this thread I have a question for you.

Would you allow your child to practice/follow Islam?

This is a topic for another thread. Feel free to start one if you'd like.

Allow? How do you propose you disallow something like that?

It's rather rude to answer a question with another question.

Why?

Because it is a sign of avoidance.

I am pretty sure if a Christian mother/father had a child who wanted to convert to Islam I don't think it would go over very well. And after said child reaches a certain age, the parents wouldn't have a say so anyways. I think a bigger issue for the conservative Christian type (assuming that is the religious group we are talking about) is whether or not their child was *chose* to be gay.

Or maybe I'm just trying to guide you to the answer with a focused question.

If my child chose Islam, so be it. I would have a much harder time if they became fundamentalists of any sort..."true believers" willing to kill because a voice tells them that "God wills it". [I forget the Latin phrase, but it was a crusader battle cry, used, for example, to excuse massacres].

It would be akin to raising your child a Redskins fan and then said child "chooses" to become a Cowpie fan. Would ANYONE on THN allow something like that (not just the "DIE HARDS")?

Merry CHRISTmas, bud! :D
