Painful collapse.

Wow! I had time enough to wade through the crowd at the game. Take the Metro home. Eat something. Chat with the wife and be the second to post on the post game thread. I was there - I didn't see it as that bad considering what we have on our roster.

That was our best opening two drives of the season against a good defense but against an even better defensive minded coach. Ryan is lacking some weapons, but with our O personnel, we weren't going to be allowed to do that all day, because Ryan makes adjustments.

He stacked the box and found a way to slow down Davis. With their corners, our receivers had no chance. That pretty much spelled doom for our offense.

The defense played well. Remember this defense lacks some key pieces but they played well until they lost the offensive support. Giving up only 13 points into the fourth quarter aint to shabby.

We all know we need a QB and once again it showed. He had lots of time on most plays but with receivers coveraged, he didn't even have the smarts to slide outside the tackle box and throw it away. Thank goodness for the defensice holding call. But I don't want to rag on Rex, he showed that he is a good back up and can move this O.

The personnel foul on Barnes? Sanchez ducked his head. Then to find out that the Refs goofed by not stepping up and stopping the play because there was a precedure play.

It is a shame that the final score was 34-19 because we all know the game was much clsoer than that.

Roy Helu - once again a positive for the game.

I am just not an offensive coordinator genius but what happened to the run? It was going great. Helu was making some good runs and getting yardage, movimg the chains. Then all of a sudden it was pass, pass, pass. Kyle Shanahan put the game in Grossman's hands...and he dropped it.

I agree with your positive comments, Irn. Despite our inferior talent to the Jets in several positions, this team played to win.

It would have been very nice indeed to win. No moral victory here - just a - Shhhhhh! - rebuilding in progress.

Ummm... the adjustment that stopped our run game was made by Kyle Shanahan. The Jets had nothing to do with it.

I wish I could ignore it. The man is totally ignorant, and has no business coaching an NFL team... I don't know that he's qualified to coach quality control for a Pop Warner team, at this point.

As a team, we are screwed, unless Mike grows the stones to fire his own boy, dooming him to a career as a college scout... I don't see that happening.

Kyle's philosophy is "take what the defense gives you." The Jets decided to stack the box and dare Rex to beat them. Kyle falls for that everytime.

Here is what Kyle would do on the series where he ran on first down. Stretch pitch right and then stretch pitch left. We'd gain about four or five yards on first and then lose 2 to four on second. It seemed like after that, it was pass, pass, pass. The worst two series were the ones before the half where we got the FG. We punted (No Helu carries - we had three TOs). We got the fumble on the muffed punt - Still having three TOs - no Helu runs = FG.

I find fault with Kyle's philosophy (JAson Garrett has this same philosophy which is why Dallas was passing so much early in the year and romo blowing leads) of letting the defense dictate what you do and second, I find fault with his run play selection. The Stretch pitch on one down is great - why alway switch it if the right is working. Mix it up - it was too predictable.

In summary - Kyle doens't say, we are running well - let's run it til they stop it. He says - 14 yards on that run, 5 yards on that run - Look, the middle of the field is wide open - pass, passs, pass.

It was embarrassing to see how many Jets fans were in attendance at FedEx Field today.

The problem is that you can tell Kyle is running it just so he's nominally not abandoning the run. But somehow all of the creativity in the gameplan goes away and we're back to a Madden-like selection of crossing patters and fly routes. With Rex tripping on his own shoelace and committing an intentional grounding foul half the time.

Redskins out of contention - fan base dumping tix - this has been a reoccuring embarrasing occurence. Afraid, it will be the same next week as Pat fans and bandwagoners show up with tix dumped by Redskin fans, but I'll be there.

Here's something that bothered me: When Rex tried to call two TOs in a row we got a 5 yard delay of game penalty, which is what I always believed was the penalty for that offense. But when Gibbs did it 5 years ago, we got a 15 yard unsportsmanlike conduct marched off against us. I remember, because at the time, I was confused because I had always thought that brought only a 5 yard DOG.


That, and the clock ticking down from 2:12 to the two minute warning after Fred Davis went OOB before the half. This happened once before this season (also on a Fred Davis catch). Is it too much to ask for a coach to know the rules and challenge the officials when they screw up? And what about us declining the running into the kicker penalty? Could we not have accepted and added the yardage onto the spot of the return?

I can't remember the last time I witnessed such hideous, illogical play calling.
Who in god's green earth abandons a run game that is going well in favor of pursuing a passing game with a QB that, for the most part, throws either too high, too far behind, or into triple coverage? Kyle , week in and week out, is usually guilty of making the same faux pas (This is my new nick name for Rex, but with a little different spelling, "Faux Pass" . It was Einstein who said, "Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results". Kyle, I'm fairly certain you fall under Albert's definition.
If the senior Shanny lets this go on, assuming he is in control of his faculties and not fallen victim to the ravages fo dimentia or some other age related mental malady, then there can be no expectation of success as long as these two clowns are in charge. I don't really care about Mike Shanahan's coaching history, as none of it matters, when you are conducting yourself with less competence than any mediocre college coach. Clearly, either the game has gotten behind him, he is mentally ill, or he's trepidatious about confronting his clueless son. As long as this level of imcompetence continues, there is no future for the Redskins. This is not a defeatist statement , or the ramblings of a disgruntled fan, it is simply an inescapable reality.
On a side note, did anybody see Grossman on the sideline smiling at the end of the game? If i were just turning on the tv and saw him, apparently happy, I would've thought they had won. It certainly was not the expression of a QB who had just completed 19 of 46 and posted a rating of 47.5.

Now you guys see what I have been griping about since mid point last year. This is far from the first time that KS has abandoned the run game while it was working .... or evidence of some particularly bazaar strategy in play selection.

Of course, it couldn't be more clear that neither Beck nor Grossman can be relied on, and of course the Shannys picked both.

Unfortunately, I think Kyle is a problem we're stuck with, as there isn't a snowball's chance in hell Pop is going to fire Son. And I really don't trust father or son to be able to evaluate and pick a good QB given their complete failures so far ... so let's hope the consensus view at Redskin Park in the offseason is to go all in to get that #1 pick from Indy, and take Luck .... cuz with the Shanaklan in charge, we're going to need all the Luck we can get.

Why would Luck want to come here? He can decline, as it's been done before.
Regardless of who we draft, there is still the problem of Kyle's complete and utter incompetence half the time. It is nearly impossible to imagine that his dad won't somehow replace him. Even the commentators are now commenting on Kyle's cluelessness. I wish they would do it a lot more, then maybe dad would fire him out of embarrassment. At any rate, they need a QB. I can't believe they didnt get rid of ey and D hall last year given how poortly they both played. People act like Dhall has just fallen apart recently when the fact is that he got burned so many times last year that he would've needed 25 interception to have made up for it. And ey is done with football regardless of what he publicly says. He is angling to get into announcing etc.

Grossman should never take another snap in the NFL let alone a Redskins uniform. People actually want this garbage to be our backup next year? No thanks.

The problem with Kyles pass, pass, pass is that it is usually pass,pass, pass, punt or pass, pass, interception or pass, pass, fumble.

My big problem with yesterday's game was Gano and that awful kickoff. We were in that game until that point. It was like a punch in the nuts.

I always pick us in Hognostications. I rarely pick us for money. This was the first week I got us wrong. I thought the matchup was very close and if you saw the game it was. I thought the Jets would struggle to get up for us and I think they did. I thought we would get up for them and I think we did. The final key was having a good crowd.

Thanks for going Red. It looked like about 30,000 empties, 20,000 loud Jets, and 40,000 quiet Redskins.

I think it's the biggest reason we lost. I'm scalping to take my son to the Pats. We won't be quiet.

Rocca was roughed not run into. Rex was unaware. Davis and Williams (aka Wayne and Garth) were stoned. Kyle got pass happy. Wilson bit on a slant and go when he was the deep half of a double team.
