i actually feel bad for the guy because he was doing some things well but somehow was getting worse every game and it seems like something just gets into his head and he starts getting in his own way somehow and it just gets to a point where it takes over and that's got to feel lousy. but he's a pro and has to deal with the consequences of it, and he's a sinking ship we can't go down with.

Like I said before;
I'm so glad we don't draft Ryan Mallett. So much happier we have John Beck and Jonathan Crompton for the future! We're truly blessed with those guys.

i was definitely intrigued by Mallett and hoping we'd snag him. but i hope they had a really good reason to avoid him after doing their research and interviewing him and all.

Its time for Beck. I know this much at least Beck wont throw four picks in a game. As long as Beck can manage the game and get us at least 21 points we should be good. Grossman has had his chance and has played so horribly that we are forced to have him benched. Its a no brainer we must have Beck as our starter.

I voted all of the above.
We saw the return of the bootleg excecuted like it is supposed to be.
We saw a Redskin QB scramble for more than 10 yards for a first down.
We saw a QB (and it wsn't Vick) draw for a TD. It was Beck!!!
You saw a deep lazer complete to Austin.
You don't have these elements with Grossman in the offense with Grossman, you are limited.
I don't second guess Grossman stsarting, it is just time for the turnover machine to turn it over to Beck.
Turn it over to Beck and see if he can get even better with more experience. We owe it to the defense. They shut out the Eagles in the second half even though they were tired from being on the field too much.

Worst thing about Mallet seems to have been "public intoxication", which would make him similar to Sonny in at least one aspect of quarterbacking.
Grrr.

During the bye, I found myself fighting off an urge to wish an injury on Rex. Oh, something relatively minor, say a broken finger, just enough to get Beck in. I never actually MADE the wish, couldn't morally go the last step, but the thought was there. I think Beck looks much crisper than Rex, felt that way in preseason too. Rex will make an adequate backup, and I think the offense will show marked improvement moving forward. Not the end of the world here by any stretch. We stayed in it and might have won if the switch had come sooner.
All of the above, and a few more unprintable options as well.

This is Rex Grossman's history. When he was at Chicago, he would fall apart after he had an interception or fumble. Chicago's defense was able to hold off the other team often enough to gte the win. Everyone points to the fact that he has played in the Super Bowl. It was not Rex Grossman that got the Bears there. He was just the accidental quaterback at the time.
I am not going to be one to clamor for Beck. He has not shown me that he is any better. I will say that Beck deserves a chance because Grossman has blown his. Beck deserves 5 games to make or break his chance.

4 Ints today + past performances? It's not rocket science. I hope, at least, that the coaches can figure that out. I voted "All of the Above".

All of the above. Beck doesn't have to be a great QB, just limit turnovers and don't give away the game like Rex.

After Rex's performance at the end of the last season, there was some hope that he had finally found a system that fit his skills and that he felt comfortable in. Sure, he still had some turnover issues last year, but it looked like he was making improvements and maybe with another training camp he would be serviceable enough to get us through this system. Even though we are 3-2, it's pretty clear that this is still the same old Rex...the guys that locks onto receivers, goes through his progressions too slowly or not at all, and when all else fails just flings it down the field no matter if his receiver is double or triple covered. He's now on pace to turn the ball over 30 times and its time to make a change.
Sure, Beck might not be better, but we need to give him a chance to show what he can do. However, the main point in all of this is that we need to address the qb position in next year's draft. More and more this is becoming a qb-driven league and until we find our franchise qb we are at best going to be a team that hovers around .500.

I was hopping for a "Feel good" redemption story in Grossman, but it does seem that he has gotten worse over the last two games. The coaches have no choice but to put Beck in unless they can explain the slide and trust him to correct it. Who knows, maybe this benching will make him play better. The competition in preseason made him look good, but when he got the job he fell back into old habits.

as I posted before
there was ample evidence this season to try Beck and a case could be made that we should have used the bye week to get Beck ready - I TOTALLY disagree - we might still have lost and would be second guessing Kyle & Mike
Now we have the reality - Beck can be the QB - were still just 8-8 or maybe 9-7
we were NOT going to win 10 or more games this year unless the other teams were all going to play badly - NOT happening
I'm glad that Beck is the QB but we are not a much better team with Beck
- WHY would you plan for and have Rex pass the ball so much - NOTHING good happens when Rex tries to throw the ball - EVERYBODY knows this
- WHY would you game plan (OR play call) a pass on obvious passing downs
- we MUST NOT PASS - RUN THE BALL - NOTHING good happens when Rex tries to throw the ball - EVERYBODY knows this
Rex did what he does BUT Kyle & Mike KNOW this
btw - I listened to the first 10 minutes of the game - better coverage
- Sonny was beside himself on the pass inteference call (Orakpo) - should have been a safety as he was throwing the ball away
- Huff said this is what Vick was hoping for when he complained about the hits - Sam said it was a stupid call by the ref, but the call the NFL wanted
- Doc Walker reported from the sidelines that the Redskins players were really pissed off about the cheap shots that the eagles defense were using that resulted in Kory being hurt - Doc said the Redskins players went to their position coaches and asked them to help them get revenge - this was NEVER mentioned on TV - I don't think they even noticed the cheap blocks
we are still going 8-8 (or maybe even 9-7)
we were NOT going to have a better chance at success with Grossman
they could NOT have replaced Grossman BEFORE the game but they should have made the switch MUCH sooner during this game
HOWEVER - I WILL ADD - the game planning and play calling has to be A LOT BETTER ALSO
I hope they replace Grossman but it is not out of the realm of possibility that they stick with Grossman - the next game is away

Mallett is not the answer. He lacks dedication and is a druggie. If you ever wondered what the offspring of a Jeff George-Todd Marinovich affair would look like, Mallett is your guy.
Of course, the Pats drafted him for value in the third round, and will no doubt try to flip him somewhere else for a first rounder. I just hope the 'Skins don't take the bait.

This should not have been an issue if this team was truly going "young" and this was a rebuilding year. Beck should have started from day one. What's that worst that would have happened from a guy that nobody has film on?
So what the last preseason game wasn't his best performance but it was better that alot of Rex's. You knew that Rex was gonna do what he did. Now, he just showed everyone that he's not capable of a "redemption" or "comeback" story.
Go with Beck and watch what happens. The rolling out that Kyle likes to do will be alot better with Beck and if there is nothing there, he can run it. I think that Beck knows that this maybe his one and only chance so I think that he's gonna take it by the horns. You have to hope that the Shanny's will have patience with him and not look to pull him if he has a bad game. He should be afforded some rope here.
But now, the Shanny's and Bruce need to start looking for another QB because if Beck performs well, winning a few games and then get's hurt, you stuck with a guy who has proven that he can't be a starter in this league.

Guess Moss thinks Grossman should stay as QB
I am going to presume that Moss is trying to be a good teammate prior to the official announcement being made. I'm good with that rationale. If there's some other reason as to why he's saying this, then I guess my response is. . . no one ever accused Moss of being intelligent.

Wait a damn minute. All,
ALL of the skins' 11 turnovers this year are Rex Grossman's fault!!!???

Thats all on Mike and Kyle, but mainly Kyle. He is an awful playcaller. The game plan should have been simple: run the ball downhill at the middle of the defense and don't pass it more than 20 times. Maybe Lichtensteiger getting hurt and Montgomery switching positions had a serious effect on running up the middle but I can't say for sure. Once we were down early Kyle immediately went back to his pass happy offense. I wish Mike would just tell his son he was taking over playcalling duties because Kyle is clueless as to how to call a game.

Injuries to key positions do cause changes in the game plan but there were still things that could have been "run" like draw plays or screens which I saw none. You pay backups money to be pros too so they should have tried to keep it moving.
Kyle's offense calls for roll outs and you can't do that with Rex but can with Beck. With Armstrong out with Hammy, you still have threats down field with Gaffney and even Moss but if you trot out a guy that can't throw it or throws it to the other team, your options are limited.
