This article suggests that Shanahan&Allen have got the Redskins stable, thinking as a team, and moving forward. Summary, Mike Sellers accepts moving to backup, even though he can still play...and we should Hail-to-the-Redskins that new new team is made from guys who do not throw star-tantrums, and even mentor the younger guy who won the position.

I don't think the team will win the Super Bowl this year, but then I didn't expect them to win in the SB17 year, either. And, for the young'uns, we never expected the Joe Gibbs teams to win the SB every year. No, we just learned and then believed that the Hogs-led teams would win most of their games and go to the playoffs.

(Not pessimistic expectations we had, right?)

Throw in the fact that, through 2 weeks, the Skins are the least penalized team in the NFL, and its easy to believe that the culture has changed.

I think I speak for a number of people when I say this (although perhaps I don't):

This is the first year in well over a decade that I have agreed with the general direction of this team. They have:
(1) Gotten rid of distractions (e.g. Haynesworth, McNabb)
(2) Went after roll players and players that fit into the system in FA; not super-stars looking for their big contract.
(3) Changed the overall attitude of the team (i.e., the team is no longer a group of individuals, but a group of players working towards the same goal)
(4) This is no longer a player-controlled team. It is finally clear that the coach runs the show and not the players or owner.
(5) They traded for MORE draft picks instead of trading them away -- and who says late rounders aren't worth much. We currently have 5 players on our roster that were drafted in rounds 5-7.
(6) I haven't heard a thing out of Snyder -- which is always fantastic.
(7) We have a roster is filled with players hungry to perform well and get the big contract opposed to signing/paying huge $$$ for players that performed well for other teams. We currently only have 8 players making more than $1M a year.

Although it has been quite some time, I am happy with the general direction of the team. Shanny has been a good hire (up to this point) -- although any hire that gets Danny boy away from actual football decisions will immediately benefit the franchise.

I know Cooley has always been a good teammate. This is really more of an excuse to again state how worlds different this year is already than last year. We. Have. A. Football TEAM!!

While Coach Mike Shanahan said he’s still waiting for Cooley to be in optimum game shape, Cooley, a two-time Pro Bowler, has been just as helpful on the sidelines as he has on the field. Last Sunday against Arizona, Cooley noticed that Davis had just one catch through 11 / 2 quarters. Cooley told coaches Davis appeared to be frustrated. “Hey, I think we need to get Fred the ball,” Shanahan recalled Cooley saying.

“That’s what you have to have – unselfish people looking out for the team,” the head coach said. “That will give an idea of what type of guy you have with Chris.”
