LL likely out, What is going on with this training staff?

I know Malcolm Kelly was already very injury prone but with his complaints, and apparently Laron getting very bitter about his situation and calling them "clowns" what is going on out there? It makes it sound like the Varsity Blues coach running the damn training room. Neglecting what the players say and running them out there. How is such a simple thing having a disconnect?

I wouldn't blame the staff. As I said before this is a very debilitating injury to a player. Remember the staff told him to slow down and put him on the PUP list. He is pushing too hard to return which could lead to a complete rupture of the tendon. The Hamstring is another symptom of rushing too soon or they haven't yet figured out what caused the injury in the first place last year. Here is medical article for your perusal:

I think the staff could be to blame, remember Adam Archuleta? How they said "nothing" was wrong with him, yet the entire time he had a back injury?

Other players, Thomas, Kelly, etc can be examples. I think a change could be made there.

I thought for a while that the training staff was lacking. Now, with two players sounding off about them I think the coaching staff, GM, our owner should at least look into the possibility that some people need to be replaced.

It's been the training staff for a while, even before Malcom. How long ago was it that it seemed like a new player got a hammy pull almost every other week. LOL

Question is. How long before management realizes that this is an issue? Since Shanny has been here, things get resolved quickly.

So who are these trainers? Have they been with the team long? Is it their techniques that are at fault, or is there a problem with the turf at Redskins Park? Subtle differences in Turf COULD cause higher injury rates. I started a thread a little while back regarding our longstanding hammy issues. Seems like SOMETHING is going on, and needs to be addressed. As a kid, I took JUDO lessons in Alexandria. My Sensei was also employed by George Allen's Skins as a stretching and flexibility coach. Of course there was no internet back then, and guys may well have just quietly played through such injuries (rub some dirt on it, you'll be fine), but you never heard of such epidemic training injuries.

Remember how Santana and CP used to get hammy pulls all the time until they went out on their own and received treatment. CP had a personal masseuse after practice.

Don't be cheap in this area Danny. Get better trainers who are not afraid to say a player can't go.

Based on Laron's comments on Twitter, he is suggesting that the TEAM is pushing him too hard to return. It sounded like he was trying to explain something that was going on with his body, but the team doctors were saying something different.

Also keep in mind that athletes who get injured get frustrated. Our staff is probably not the best, but we're in better shape than the NY Giants right now. They obviously handled the offseason poorly.

Landry blames self for setback. Said he pushed self too hard. Also said he had convo w/training staff after his tweet. Sounds like friction

landry changes tune

The commentary on Laron has seemed to say the achilles is good to go. It's the opposite hammy that is keeping him out. My read on the tweets it seemed like he was frustrated because the staff kept saying 'don't rush this'. In public comments, he keeps saying he feels ready to go. The ambiguity of LL's prose makes it hard to decipher. Maybe the deleted expletives were necessary to counterpoint the theme of the underlying metaphor, as it were ...

:hmm:

Bad luck is one thing, but year in, year out, it seems like a pattern. I'm serious about the turf at Redskins Park. The relative firmness or resilience of the ground can have a profound effect on the body. It didn't seem to be an issue near as much when they trained in Carlisle.

the players need to do a better job of NOT giving out information

many times the 'information' is not the complete picture - ESPECIALLY about injuries

fans and the media will distort EVERYTHING to suit what 'they' want

Why do you assume what we're hearing is accurate?

LL is out for Game one. He explains he pushed himself to hard and now an MRI shows he has in fact set himself back. This is not good and I would not be surprised if he misses a lot of games .

I knew that Laron was battling an injury, however I didn't realize the severity of it until this morning when I found an article about how his tweets ripped the Redskins medical staff. With that being said I'm starting to get a little concerned. We had Malcolm Kelly, now Laron, what about Chris Cooley?

Part of this is a result of age. Older players get more pulls and take longer to heal. The lockout did not help many injured players. The lack of a regular off-season training/OTA's is costing some players. Peyton Manning is in the same boat and I believe he too blamed not being in touch with the trainers for his long recovery. I guess they don't have trainers/rehab outside the NFL?

I completely understand the lockout didn't do anyone any good, but Kelly has been having issues with injuries before the lockout. Do you think that if we didn't have the lockout that things would be different with injuries?

I try to look at things objectively. The statement that the Redskins seem to have problems with injured players may be true. It may be what's called a statistical cluster. What is causing the cluster? The training staff or the fact that the team used to be one of the the oldest in the league? They are much younger now. Let's look at Kelley and Torrain. Maybe some people have a predisposition to injury. Torrain has been injured every year he has been in the league. What did we find out about the rookie Jarvis Jenkins after his ACL tear? He has a family history of relatives with knee problems. It's hard to know without more, but certainly if you don't train hard and then all of a sudden have to train hard in a compressed pre-season, injuries are bound to happen or old problems flare up.

You make some perfectly good points. And I agree that the lockout has something to do with injuries. Peyton Manning for example.

Actually, without the lockout I think the situation might be worse. We have been relatively lucky in terms of not many injuries this preseason. It just sucks who they've been. Better the Gnats than us hosting the injury faeries this year. Philly is pretty close to NY, maybe they visit both?

Landry has indicated that his 'response' was a result of his frustration & that he "acted un-professionally"
Too many players "comments" are later shown to be misconstrued or twisted to suit a "report"

The players are hurting themselves by giving out "information" - the media/fans will, for the most part, "interpret" this incorrectly
