IMO this is the biggest story of the offseason. Palmer is an extremely talented QB, he's given the Bengals his blood, sweat and tears. He sees they are starting to re-build and so he decides he wants out. They're no longer a contender, the o-line stinks and he wants a change.

The ownership just wants to sit on him.

It's a damn shame that they would just hold onto a star quality QB and run out the clock on his career. He deserves better than this, and the NFLPA, fans and league should be outraged, but we're just not hearing much about it. All that aside, isn't it bad business for the Bengals? Why would players want to sign there? Why would the team bite off their nose to spite their face like this? Seems like they could get a nice package or a draft pick or two for a possible franchise QB.

They have the worst owner in the NFL. The way he runs an organization is a complete joke.

Its sad to see the way Palmer's career is going to end. He was considered among the elite QB's before his knee injury and now he is reduced to this.

Evidently, on ESPN they reported that the Bengals had contacted Carson Palmer and told him that they were about to cut his brother Jordan from the team and if Carson didn't want that to happen he better report. If this is true that is screwed up.

Palmer had a plan from the start and the cheap Browns ownership is playing right into his hands.

The Bengals are about $16 to $16.5 million under the cap and they are carrying Palmer on the did not report list. Palmer asked for a trade or said he would retire. He didn't get traded so he retired, he doesn't have to play for them if he doesn't want to. So he took his ball and wnt home. Somebody should have given him a ink pen because the NFL never got retirement papers on him.

It's the week before the start of the regular season and he can (IMO will) show up for work and add $11 million to their salary cap and not in football shape. If they don't give him what he wants (cut or trade him) he'll wreck their whole salary cap strategy. But he has to do it this week
