This can only be good news.... right?

Redskins coach Mike Shanahan confirmed Monday that SS LaRon Landry (Achilles, hamstring) will not begin the season on PUP.
Landry also won't play at all in the preseason, as he's been declared out for the exhibition finale. The Redskins' goal is to have him back by Week 1. If Landry can't make it, Reed Doughty will be the first-team free safety with O.J. Atogwe sliding over to strong and Chris Horton in the third safety role.

I'm not really sure how I feel about that Tribe. I mean, I want him out there being that's he's a beast but he can do more bad than good if he's still hurting.

If he is on the PUP at the start of the season, he is out 6 weeks mandatory. Shanny is thinking he will be better before that. On the PUP, he would not be using a roster spot. Inactive, he takes up one of the 53 spots.

It's good as long as he doesn't end up on IR

And if he isn't on the field practicing by week 9 he will be on pup aka IR for the rest of the season. As it looks right now, it may be better to scrap him for the season and I really do hate to say that, but Landry is not healthy and it seems like they are trying to get him back at any point possible this season. I hope I am wrong and he can be on the field for the "playoff push."

Achilles is a serious injury. Enough to slow down a powerful, hard-hitting threat like Landry anyway. The skins will miss him desperately.
