How do you guys think he will do?
I expect he will be a disaster which leads us to Andrew Luck and we finally will have a franchise QB for the first time since Joe Theismann.

I think he'll be happy if the Security guy recognises him by the end of the season

The Security guy is still within his first 90 days on the job, I doubt he would have recognized 90% of the players

Is a D- failing?

I'm not expecting anything bro, I know nothing of this guy. How can I make a call based on someone I've never seen throw the ball?
Now if you said Grossman I'd be like.. Eh, maybe 5 wins.
If you said Clemons I'd be like.. Eh, maybe 1 or 2 wins.
Beck is like a rookie to me except its more like he's a rookie who's been cheating and learning early.. I gues.. Oh well, REDSKINS FOR LIFE!

What about his awesome 1-4 record for Miami in 2007?

Sorry he had to play for the worst team in the league (Trent Green was 0-5)... Do a little research. Big whoop he had a crap record. Peyton Manning set the record for INTs as a rookie and went 3-13. I'm not saying Beck is Manning, but don't be an idiot.

AndyJeans I am well aware the Dolphins went 1-15 that year. How do you all of not see that Shanahan is tanking the season for Andrew Luck?

If the Oline holds up and gives him some nice passing lanes because for some reason despite his average heighth he gets a lot of balls batted I think he will be ok. He's got decent legs so he should be effective in the bootlegs/roll outs which are used a lot in Shanny's O.....Also he's had a year in the system now (even with the lockout he was still organizing OTAs with the playbook in hand) A lot of people bad mouth Shanny's dealings with QBs but he took Plummer and turned him from a turnover machine to a pro bowler even if it was one year and Cutler had his best years under Shanny so I have faith I really do. I'm sure I'll hear from all these Luck fans but I hate when teams tank the Colts got Peyton and he's been great for them but they can't afford a good D then and that has been their shortfall for every year except that Super Bowl year. So all I can say is Good Luck John Beck I believe, but I will also be the first to admit I'm wrong if he tanks which is why we still need another QB whether it's Rex or Caleb Hannie who was pretty impressive for the Bears when Cutler wasn't playing. When Cutler got "hurt" and they had to put Hannie in against the Pack he threw that horrible INT to Raji but after that he settled down and played some great QB against a top D and he would be much cheaper than Rex but he doesn't know the system unfortunately which would be a downfall since Martz's system is so wacko compared to everybody elses. Still living in Bears country I've seen him many times in the preseason yes I know preseason but he played against some 1st string Ds and played very well. Just thought I would throw in my

How about he played the first five games and they didn't win but one game that year... in week 15.
You should follow the advise you gave me

Why should I do research? I posted a fact. John Beck went 1-4 in 2007 with Miami and he hasn't played since. Those are facts. Nothing I wrote is factually incorrect unlike 1nkisder who tried to tell me that neither the Chiefs or the Bears (Who went to the NFC Championship game) Made the playoffs last year when both did. Sorry buddy you lost all credibility when you said that.

Research would have help you not make such a dumb post and it would have made your argument stronger....
Beck went 0-5

Probably since tanking is stupid I don't care if Luck is superman....next year the draft will be a great QB draft especially Landry Jones and Matt Barkley

I'm saying Cleo Lemon was the QB for the Miami Dolphins when they beat the Baltimore Ravens in OT in Week 15 of the 2007 NFL season.

Anything less than an "A" is failing at that position.

My mistake. Good for Cleo Lemon, he is out of the league which is where John Beck will soon find himself.

This thread turned childish in a hurry. First of all, a QB's win-loss record is irrelevant. It tells you nothing about how they played whatsoever. It's like a pitcher's record in baseball, the wins and losses are a product of the team, not of an individual performer. That's a fact.
My expectations of John Beck are for him to manage a run driven offense with high percentage throws. I predict he throws about 10-15 TD's but with around 10 INTs. I'll assume he completes about 60% and under 3,000 yards. Basically about like Jon Kitna or Shaun Hill.
Look at the QB play we got last season, 24th ranked passer in the league in McNabb. 58%, 14 TD's, 15 INTs... it's not a stretch to imagine that Beck could improve on those numbers.

I agree with your post and I agree that John Beck will equal #'s of a QB such as Shaun Hill a career backup. GET READY FOR ANDREW LUCK!

Boy is this post going to go way over some of these guys head
Some would rather trash the guy because they know nothing about him.
Some defend him because they know nothing about him.

Then there's those that just don't know nothing

Just crossing my fingers and hope that the work Beck is putting in pays off.
His success largely depends on our Oline and WRs. I heard Beck had an arm. From the few highlights I have seen of him at BYU he did throw a couple seventy yard bombs. Whatever that means.
In the recent past we kind of knew what were getting from our QB play. Ramsey, Brunell, Todd Collins and DMac.
With Beck we just have to wait and see. I have to think if he beat out Grossman who knows the offense? Well he has to be a step up. Grossman isnt bad at scoring points. Grossman just has a knack of throwing picks. Now if Beck can produce like Grossman minus the picks he should be solid. Now that I have analyzed this more. I am feeling good about things. Cautious optimism.

Comment: Beck has adequate size and athleticism with solid arm strength. He has good release quickness and shows effective accuracy when he has time to set his feet. Beck isn't great to create out of the pocket, but can elude and deliver the ball to make plays downfield. He is a smart player who shows good vision downfield to take what the defense gives him. He doesn't have the power to fit the ball into tight windows but has enough arm strength to make all the throws with effective weight transfer and timing. Beck is a high-character person with great work ethic, toughness and intelligence
